Post-October Event Log

Who: Everyone
Where: Throughout Mango City
When: October 29 to November 2
What: Use this time to check on your CR, help people out, or do whatever. Everyone can make their own top-levels and you don't have to use the provided prompts. Wildcard it if you want. Have fun!

The nightmare is finally over and the aftermath sinks in. Wherever you are, news will eventually spread that the pokemon stopped their rampaging status, looking confused and some horrified by what had happened around them. Mari's Steelixes are finally off their guard duty, people are crying out of various emotions and people who are physically well enough flood out of the shelters in an attempt to search for their loved ones out there, whether they be people or pokemon. Some are reunited, some are not. Either way, people are in this together, comforting others over their losses and rebuilding the city. There's been quite a lot of destruction apart from the Pokemon Center and the hospital, after all. Some buildings are missing a roof, holes on the side wall, doors knocked down... some are unfortunate to have been entirely blasted away by an extremely strong rampaging pokemon's hyper beam (thanks, random Hydreigon).

After most people calm from their initial high emotions, the reconstruction starts. Of course, they also contact the people from Toran who helped with reconstruction efforts. Looks like the handymen will never rest...

The Pokemon Center is looking for additional manpower, getting pokeballs here to there, labeling whose pokemon are whose in things looking like incubators for those in queue of getting healed, and managing supplies. They are extremely short-staffed right now, so they will be looking for any help possible. Though, if you cause too much trouble than helping, you may be politely asked to leave or to help somewhere else. They don't have time for this. During the nights, the Pokemon Center may be crowded. After all, many people just lost their homes. They got nowhere to go.

The hospital is similar, in which they are also short-staffed. They're looking for disaster volunteers, and especially pokemon with healing capabilities to lessen the load on doctors and nurses who need to care for the more gravely wounded. With more help, the hospital will no longer seem as chaotic as before, but more along the lines of an orderly busy time. It helps that the people are no longer stuck inside due to the ongoings of the events outside, so the hospital is emptier than before, compared to when it was jam packed. The mental health department is also using Drowzees and Munnas to give people good dreams and eating nightmares without repercussions so that they can have a good night's rest. Not all wounds are physical, after all.

With the local Mart's help and other establishments, some people band together to supply people with food and drinks in a very open area in the park. Take a breather and eat something. If you look like you're running yourself ragged, one of the townspeople will drag you to eat and drink a proper meal. They don't need another patient in the hospital right now.

Remember that boba shop? Or those restaurants that you had the delicious meat from? Their damages vary from a broken window to being absolutely trashed. Pokemon and people alike are helping with moving the debris and cleaning up the mess. Someone piped up about recycling broken glass to make brand new windows with fire pokemon and proper glass making methods, so please don't throw them away!

The Radio Tower and the cemetery tower? They're both closed off to the public right now with yellow police caution tapes all around them. Your friendly policemen who all look the same advise nearby people to stay away from the two buildings at the moment. Please don't cause trouble or ask them questions... they're tired as it is like everyone else and they're not allowed to say anything for now, if ever. Your energy is better used elsewhere.

I. Pokémon Center

[After a certain encounter on the first night, Akira spent the remainder of the evening holed up in a dark corner of the Pokémon Center, talking to Raoul. The second day, he went back out to do what he could, and ended up hurting rampaging Pokémon — but not just any Pokémon, no, ones belonging to his friend. It was worth saving a life, he thinks, but it weighed on him all the same. That night, he crawled back to his dark corner in the Pokémon Center again.]

[On October 29, he went out just long enough to secure Morpeko, Drifloon, Slowpoke, and Sandile. Then he went back to the Pokémon Center.]

[Instead of hiding this time though, he's helping out. A tall young man with a Morpeko on his shoulder might be the one getting your Pokémon in queue to heal, or attempting to carry a heavy bag of Pokéchow across the crowded Center floor, or fussing with the many incubators. If he sees someone he recognizes, he'll stop what he's doing for long enough to say hello and check on them. And if you saw this same young man sitting alone in a closet or behind a corner armchair muttering to himself the past few days, uh, don't worry about it!]

II. Wild Card

[If you want to find Akira in a non-work context, here he is! It's usually easy enough to find him and Morpeko taking their meals at the park, Morpeko tearing into a pile of Berries because she's not allowed to eat all the strictly rationed food. Or you can just make some shit up, hit me bro.]

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
[That Pokemon looks like she can use more berries; down to the last few. Yoichi has been distributing containers of them, freshly picked from the edge of the forest. He could probably be mistaken for a normal Mango City citizen, having not encountered any other world displaced people before the night of the rampage; an unfamiliar face, though he arrived days earlier in the middle of the ocean. He pulls a wheeled cooler up to where Akira and his Morpeko are having their meal.]

Does your...

[Which one is this? One of the hamsters...]

Azurill want more berries? I have a bunch of them.

[He jerks his thumb at the cooler. It rattles.]
infiltrationtools: (SIGH ⛓ i won't do what i'm told)

[personal profile] infiltrationtools 2020-10-29 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, but you should probably make sure the oth—

[Akira tries really hard. He tries. But then Morpeko cuts him off by trilling as loudly as she possibly can and scampering up to Yoichi, looking at him like he's an angel come down from Heaven. For the explicit purpose of giving her food.]

...Morpeko eats a lot.

[Akira can relate, but he has the decency to not do it in the middle of a disaster relief situation.]

But if you think you can spare a few, she'd probably appreciate it.

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Morpeko! Azurill is the blue mouse, that's right. Yoichi smiles at the excited Pokemon.]

It's okay. I can always go back and get more.

[He's taken quite a few trips back and forth already, but he's better at this sort of gopher thing as opposed to helping fix the buildings or taking care of the debris. He's proved to be mediocre at that in the boba shop, and he doesn't like that feeling.]

Do you want a drink? I've got those too.

[He opens the cooler, and inside is a Corphish helpfully holding out a plastic bottle of something orange that hasn't been shaken up enough; the powder swirling around and cloudy in some spots. Yoichi takes out two plastic containers of assorted berries and opens them to set in front of Morpeko.]
infiltrationtools: (SNORT ⛓you can make the)

[personal profile] infiltrationtools 2020-10-29 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
[It's decided, this is Morpko's new favourite person, at least until someone else shows up and fills her stomach. She immediately hunches over the berry packs, shoving them greedily (but happily!) into her maw.]

Sure, thank you.

[That's addressed as much to Corphish as it is to the human, though Akira doesn't know what a Corphish is called. He takes the bottle and gives it a few shskes; must be some of that powdered juice stuff.]

Might be too far, but if you go over to the part of the woods where it meets that jagged rock formation in the sea, there's a lot of Berries out there. If you need to restock.

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
[The Corphish waves his claw in thanks. He worked hard on those drinks. Akira will find it takes a little salty, despite being an also sugary orange flavour. The water came from inside the Corphish; wherever the Water Gun's ammunition is stored. He's spit into a lot of empty bottles lately.]

Oh, I saw that when I got here.

[But... yeah, it's a very long way. It took Yoichi five days to get from the ocean to the city.]

But... is there a shortcut in the woods somewhere?
infiltrationtools: (PICNIC ⛓but we exist)

[personal profile] infiltrationtools 2020-10-29 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
No, no, not from that direction – there's one over to the east. It's maybe like six hours from here.

[He's assuming that Yoichi arrived from the south like everyone did at the behinning of the month. Akira takes a sip, altogether unaware that he's consuming Corphish spit.]

But if you wanted to go back to the southern one, you could probably ride a Pokémon...

I - October 29, somewhere between the city and the forest

[ If for some reason, you're all the way out here, you'll find a very small fluffy black dog that's curled up on a possibly very familiar tattered cloak. It seems to find the shade of the tree comfortable, though if you reach out to pet it, it growls lowly no matter who you are. It looks like it can just sense someone's there while barely sleeping, but not entirely sure who. Careful, you get the feeling this dog bites.

Sometimes your other self is a dog in some other universe and you have to accept that.
]

II - October 30 ~ November 2

[ Sometimes Hien will appear to be an assistant nurse with orange hair faded into brown and black, instructing his Hatenna to heal people and induce Aromatherapy to calm people's nerves. He seems like a normal guy in his early twenties, who's just trying his best, and he's actually expressive here--smiling at the patients, playing with the children... Gosh, you'd think he's someone else. (He kinda is. Sorta.)

When he sees you, he goes up to you with a smile, assuming you're just another visitor without really checking who you are.
]

Hello, are you the new volunteer?

[ If you're actually one of the patients in the hospital, he'll come in to check on you instead. ]

wildcard

[ Hien is here for post-event things, ranging from angsty to fluff to ridiculous. I'm here for anything. ]

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Yoichi considers the twelve hour commute to get more berries from the eastern shore. The cooler isn't that large, and it's certainly not worth the trip for one cooler full of berries. He can't buy a bigger one because he's already spent all the money he got from helping with some of the boba shop clean up. He may be able to return it if it doesn't smell too much like Corphish... Only, maybe he doesn't need to.]

Ride one like the deer or the unicorns? There are Pokemon that freeze things, right? The eastern spot might be workable. I have an idea. Want to help?

[It will be harder to organize everything himself, and Akira might know more about Pokemon or where to find things in the city.]
infiltrationtools: (JUDGE ⛓yeah it's where the fight begins)

[personal profile] infiltrationtools 2020-10-29 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
...Well, what's your idea?

[Akira is always down for something adventurous, and also potentially something that will help him more easily secure food for Morpeko.]

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I saw a cart in the street that someone was selling t-shirts out of, and I was thinking if we had something large to have the unicorns pull, we could stack crates or any containers on it, and keep the berries cold with one of the ice Pokemon.

[Is this a stupid idea? It might be. Yoichi knows nothing about food preservation; do berries even need to stay cold? How long until they go bad? He's never once paid attention in a science class.]

That's too complicated, isn't it? Basically, I just want to carry as many berries back as possible at one time.
infiltrationtools: (THINK ⛓i am the battle line)

[personal profile] infiltrationtools 2020-10-29 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Akira nods. He can't exactly tell what kind of Pokémon the 'unicorns' are because he's never seen one, but it sounds like it's not like using horses to carry heavy loads is a new thing.]

It's not a bad idea. Obviously we'd need Pokémon to carry it, and... some way to actually build a wagon.

[All of the supplies are needed here for the reconstruction, though. Hmm...]

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[It might take longer to organize and build a wagon that it would to make two trips out there.]

Boats. There were tracks of boats; were any of them brought to the city? Or does anyone have any?

[Instant wagons.]

I. Fashion Crimes [closed to Hythlodaeus]

[After escaping the hospital somehow, Toki once again has a 'lack of clothing' dilemma. With so many extra hands at the hospital, the staff 'misplaced' his clothes and shoes, though Toki suspects they were discarded on purpose. They never intended for him to leave; all the more reason his escape was justified. Hana-chan's overalls were still in the storage closet where she left them after stealing a nurse's outfit, so she's decked out as usual, riding on Toki's shoulders as he wanders down the street in a hospital gown that he's worn for days in a row. He takes more careful steps, barefoot and avoiding things still strewn about the streets. No one seems to want to bother them. Perhaps they're put off by Toki's appearance; greasy hair, very pale, bruises on his wrist and ankles, and the cast on his hand is covered in scribbles. Hana-chan tried to write her name on it, but she couldn't keep the marker steady, nor did she know how to spell it. Toki tried to help her fix it, but he's right-handed and it was just a mess all around. If not Toki, Mango City dwellers might be avoiding Hana-chan's vicious expression, on the look out for Chanseys and anyone who comes too close and hasn't been identified as a friendly entity.

She yanks on Toki's hair when she sees Hythlodaeus, and he turns in the right direction.]

Hilbro!

[Toki waves and Hana-chan holds tightly to his hair until he puts his hand back on her leg to keep her up on his shoulders. It's dangerous up here.]

II. Post Fashion Crimes Wildcard

[Later, Toki has obtained a few new outfits somehow, and is currently wearing some very sparkly silver sequined pants, red flipflops, and a baggy neon pink mesh hoodie with a drawstring at the bottom. The hem doesn't quite reach the top of his pants, and every time he raises his arm, he's showing his stomach. So stylish, and Hana-chan approved.

They don't help at all with the rebuilding or clean-up, Toki can't do much with one hand and no one wants to entrust a Spinda with anything precise. They hang out in the park, the bakery, the boba shop, and the bookstore; waiting until something happens to give them direction.]

III. Adrift // (cw: dissociation)

[At night, Toki and Hana-chan like to sit on the steps of closed shops and people watch. They all have lives, and dreams, and desires. They have connections and families and most importantly, Toki thinks, understanding of themselves. He holds Hana-chan's little paw gently as she leans against him. He's sad again, and he doesn't quite know why, he never really knows why. But there are things that he can't reach, or touch, or be part of. The world is wrong again. It will pass, but right now, he just wants to go home. He laughs to himself at that thought, because there's never been 'home'. Where is it? Where did he actually come from? Where does he belong?

His breath comes shallowly and halted, trying not to cry, but the tears are already there and he hadn't noticed them.]

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I. Battles!

[Yoichi needs to do something competitive or he's going to scream. Helping in the wake of disaster gave him a few moments of adrenaline, but nothing comes close to what he wants, what he has to experience again. He'll lose the first few times, he knows that. It's not him who has to be in peak condition and striving for perfection and more, no. It's the lobster. Pokemon land is insane, but this is how it is. He'll adapt, and he will prevail, and he will not lose again to an eleven year old and her balloon!

He clutches his pokeball tightly, practically stalking down the street to lock eyes with anyone who looks like a worthy opponent. That's the sign, this is how they do things. Make eye contact, and battle!]

You! I challenge you!

II. Stats

[There are no Pokedexes in the PokeMart. The clerk didn't seem to know what Yoichi was even talking about. Do they not exist here? He looks through the magazine rack for anything akin to a sports almanac for Pokemon. Trading cards. Anything with information. There's calendars of cute Pokemon in flower fields, a cooking magazine with '7 Ways to Saute Slowpoke' in bold print on the front- Yoichi turns that one around and looks away for a second. They eat them. He takes a deep breath and turns the magazine back to look at the cover again. They eat them. It's fine. It's like chickens, prized chickens you win blue ribbons for at rural country fairs, or big roosters for cock fighting. They are not cute fluffy kittens, they are food. Food and tools for for achieving the great position of Gym Leader. It's all a mindset.

After several minutes of flipping through breeding guides, contest hints, and the short biographies of 'The Very Best Trainers', Yoichi comes across something he cannot unsee.]

Holy shit.

[He can't put it down. He wants to, he really wants to, but his hands are moving of their own accord, turning the next page in a swimsuit issue of Mango Gym Magazine; but it's not the Leaders in bikinis or something normal, no... it's a ~rare~ female Snorlax lounging suggestively in a one-piece with frills, berries artfully positioned all over her bulging stomach, with an accompanying article about her favourite romantic restaurants and date spots. This is some sort of fetish thing and the clerk has seen him looking.]

[personal profile] weenwoon 2020-10-29 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Hythlo is finally allowed to take his first walks, even outside hospital walls as long as he doesn't go too far! He tries to take the opportunity, but he still gets tired very easily, so he's just sitting down on a bench, warming himself in the sun. This is nice, and he actually isn't expecting anything to happen at all.]
weenwoon: (causer of problems has logged in)

[personal profile] weenwoon 2020-10-29 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Who the clerk will also see looking is the freakishly tall masked and robed man peering over Yoichi's shoulder. Where did he come from? Yoichi doesn't know, so absorbed he was in the horror of pokemon playboy.]

... These people are certainly quite imaginative, are they not.

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[It's only seconds before Hythlodaeus speaks that Yoichi senses his presence. Then the voice is too far overhead, and when he turns all he can think at first is "what's with the masks?" because he has already encountered Hien. Secondly, it's "this man is very tall", so tall that it's weird enough for him to be momentarily distracted from the eyesore that is the Snorlax.]

What?

[There was a question somewhere, he thinks.]
weenwoon: (tis akin to 'nya')

[personal profile] weenwoon 2020-10-29 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Hythlo smiles and points at the magazine.]

The publication. I thought these creatures mere companions, but I suppose 'tis not too surprising, given their levels of sentience...

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[The image is back in Yoichi's brain now. He realizes he's still holding the magazine and shoves it back on the rack like it burned him.]

This... That's normal... here?

['Companions' has two connotations, and maybe Pokemon are in both categories.]
weenwoon: (contemplating the cheased burger)

[personal profile] weenwoon 2020-10-29 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Fortunately, Hythlo only shrugs.]

I cannot say for certain. I do not believe one could call it 'normal', but some evidence does suggest some people form... ah, different bonds with their Pokemon.

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Alright. This is disturbing information, but he can work with it.]

Do these-

[He chokes a little trying to get the next words out, but he does.]

-different bonds have more favourable outcomes in competitions?

[Tell him he doesn't have to sleep with Pokemon to get to the top.]
weenwoon: (wherever you walk)

i feel like we will both be going to hell for this thread, unironically

[personal profile] weenwoon 2020-10-29 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Hythlo actually looks startled. Look, he's a monsterfucker, and it's none of his business what consenting adults and adult Pokemon do together, but there are things even he doesn't want to think about!!!

He reaches out to pat Yoichi's head instead.]

You are much too young to think about such things, little one.

[ Hien is finally off nurse duty as Hyunjung and decides to play a prank on Hythlo. Or at least cheer him up. Despite the soothing things he did back in his room before, he feels that Hythlo is pretty much scarred for life, so... he deserves some nice things.

That's why he turns into that cute little dog. He has a pokeball in its mouth in its small form and is within Hythlo's field of vision, wagging his tail.

Hello, beanpole.
]

:flame emoji:

[personal profile] 299z 2020-10-29 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[The headpatting is seen as condescension, and it takes a lot for Yoichi not to just grab Hythlo's hand and wrench it away. But they're in a store, and he isn't quite accustomed to things around here and what may or may not happen in the event there's an altercation not involving Pokemon. Instead, he grits his teeth and attempts to look less annoyed than he is.]

That's a 'yes', isn't it?
