Who: Rhel, Akechi, and Fai | Rhel and Akira
Where: The northwestern beach and somewhere in town
When: Middle of the month
What: Rhel grabs two of the people most interested in the beach and goes investigating | Akira found some interesting information about the missing kids and Rhel is very much interested.

Beach Not a Party

[The Crystal must still be looking out for her here or something. The rain's let up a little (read: not much at all, she's just optimistic), Rhel's ready to go digging into the mystery of the beach, and Akechi and Fai just happen to be in the same general area as she starts looking for them.]

Ah, Fai! Akechi! I was thinking that I might go and investigate the beach today, see what might be found. Are either of you available for that?

[There is interesting sand to find and who knows what else.]

Find The Kids

[Rhel is once again helping out at the daycare, still concerned about the kids but not sure where else to look.]

[ Fai turns towards Rhel at the sound of her voice, an easy smile on his face. ]

I am. Shall we make our way over there?

[ He looks towards Akechi to see if he's ready to go too. ]

Oh? Well, of course.

[ Well, guess we're doing this now. He'd rather do this part alone but. Eh. For the sake of saving face, he'll come along for this little trip. ]

Let's get going.

[Rhel smiles and actually claps a little, delighted.]

Yes, thank you both. I just don't feel as if this is something to be done alone, with the storms and everything. If I get dragged off or under or something, no one else would know what happened or to come looking for me.

[ He laughs, appreciating her enthusiasm and glad that Akechi is joining them. ]

Of course. Don't worry about that happening now! We would never let that happen to you. Isn't that right, Akechi?

[ Fai smiles at Akechi before he turns to start walking in the direction of the beach. ]

Of course not.

[ The less people they have the greater their disadvantage will be, after all! :)

Walking to the beach, though... ]

Our meetings as of late have started some very interesting discussions, don't you think?

They have. What do you two think about this being the doing of that Kyogre primal--er, Legendary?

[ His eyebrows raise at the world primal, but he decides not to ask about it right now. ]

Hmm, it's certainly a possibility. Sagi mentioned Lugia as well. It sounds like both possess the power to create storms like this one... I think they're leads worth looking into.

[ Fai brings his hand up to his chin. ]

Things like this are usually caused by something with a considerable amount of power, in my experience.

I'm certainly not ruling either of those possibilities out, and signs do point to those being strong contenders. However, our best plan of action, if we're unable to put an end to this soon this island will become uninhabitable.

[ WHICH IS LIKE. really bad, obviously ]

Which is a problem, but unfortunately I can't just set it on fire a few dozen times and call it a day like I usually do when gods are causing problems.

[She is mostly joking.]

There has to be someone behind all of this, doesn't there?

[ And Fai can't calm the storm himself with his magic, even though he would avoid doing so unless he'd absolutely have to. Still, it's frustrating not being able to do these things. ]

I think so... well, at least when it comes to the storm. I don't know if the boba and storm are related, unless someone is just trying to cause even more trouble.

[ He doesn't know if the missing kids are somehow related to the storms, so he can't say anything about that. ]

We do need to figure this out as soon as we can, though. Akechi's right in that this island will be uninhabitable, and we will need to evacuate everyone. Hopefully we can find something helpful here.

[ They could be, but Akechi isn't entirely sure. He hates not being sure, too, so he keeps that thought to himself. They're near the beach, though, so he's going to get ready to begin investigating. ]

Anything in particular that either of you are looking for?

A giant crate of crystals is probably too much to ask for, but if either of you seen a person in a dark robe with a red or white mask, just yell "Ascian" and I'll take care of it.

[She is mostly joking.]

In seriousness, anything that seems odd. You said the sand here was rougher, yes?

I'll be sure to be on the lookout for anyone like that!

[ Fai would add in "anyone with a bat logo on their clothes" to the list as well but... he no longer feels like he's being watched, and hasn't since he's gotten here. ]

As for what I'm looking for... I'm looking for any traces of magic.

[ But he doesn't elaborate, instead looking around at the sand at the mention of it being rougher here. ]

It is, yes. Rougher than what you'd expect.

[ Especially compared to, say, the southern beach. ]

Well, let's get to it.

[ He's going to start digging through the sand to see if anything comes up. ]

[Rhel starts wandering the beach, looking for literally anything.]

You know, I wonder if the sand over here isn't just made from a different rock? That is what sand is made from, right?

It is!

[ Fai crouches down, picking up some of the sand and running it through his fingers. It's really rough. ]

Hmm, it might be? I would need to look at the sand on the rest of the island to really compare it, though.

[ Alright, just gonna let them do their thing. He'll look down at Fai and ask: ]

I had feeling that it was made from something different as well. I can't quite pinpoint what it is, but it's not like regular sand.

[This is going to suck, but Rhel rolls her pants up as she heads for the sand closer to the ocean.]

It might just be newer sand, though I don't know where it might have come from...

[Sand, seashell, sand--oh.]

Ah, can one of you tell me if this is just "really wet sand" or "actually a different color sand"? Just to confirm.

[ He nods at Akechi. Although Fai hasn't seen many different types of sand, it's different than what he's seen before. Still, it is possible it's newer sand, like Rhel suggested.

When Rhel asks for confirmation, Fai kicks off his shoes and rolls up his pants as well before heading towards her. He runs his fingers through some of the darker sand, and it feels clumpy in some parts. ]

I'm not an expert in sand but... I think this isn't just wet sand. It might be a good idea to take some with us and wait for it to dry.

[Yeah, so he knows that Rhel hangs out around here pretty often. So the day after his nighttime adventure with Drifloon, he goes back to find her.]

Rhel? Are you here?

[And once he finds her:]

After your shift, I'd like to talk to you about something.

[Not here. Not now.]

[Rhel looks up at her name, Flicker the Litwick peeking out over her shoulder.]

Is everything alright, Akira?

Everything's fine. After we went to the beach the other day, I went back last night and caught a Drifloon.

[Akira glances meaningfully at the board on the side wall, containing all the 'missing children' posters. If they talk about it here, then the entire damn day-care center will want to become involved in finding the kids, and that will only complicate things.]

I wanted to tell you what happened, after you're done with work.

[!!!]

I won't be but a moment.

[This is important information, after all.

Rhel very quickly finishes up what she was doing as Flicker waddles over to cling to Akira for a little bit instead. He's nice, though as soon as Rhel returns the Litwick is once again demanding Rhel's attention.]

Where should we go?

[Hello, Flicker. Akira reaches out to try and pet him, though it may not work on account of being a ghost.]

[He leads Rhel a little ways away from the day-care, and then finally explains.]

I caught a Drifloon last night and asked it a few questions with Morpeko. He said... [A moment's pause.] The Drifloon have been taking kids, none of the kids are dead. When I asked him to take me to where the kids are, he took me to the hospital and circled around it.

Tonight, I want to investigate, and I want you to come with me.

The hospital?

[Well then. Rhel nods, already eager to go.

(In a nearby tree, someone's eyes glint. Shiny...soft...)]

Let's go. I believe Flicker is also a Ghost type, so perhaps if we find any more Drifloons she can help Morpeko.

I'll meet you there at... let's say... nine?

[Ghosts are more active at night, and there's fewer people around to ask questions.]

That'll work, yes. Make sure you eat, and let someone else know what we're doing in case something happens to us.

[(So soft...much better than the nest right now....)]

...Sure.

[He's surprised by the level of concern she has for him. Still, he will definitely eat dinner and inform Akechi (as the only person on this island who he even somewhat trusts with investigations) that he's going out tonight.]

[And then that evening, Akira and his two Pokémon wait outside the hospital, as expected.]

[Rhel is...fairly easy to hear coming, as she isn't coming from the rest of the town but from a cluster of trees near the hospital.

She is also picking things out of her hair while a Murkrow flaps about with Flicker in his claws, pleased as anything.]

Swivin' bats, and don't you look so godsdamned pleased with yourself, Mheg, you're half the reason those blasted things got me!

Murk!

Don't you give me that! You decided my hair was a nest, and then those bats came out of bloody nowhere! A hundred swivin' bats, hot on your tail as you try to turn me into a nest! You are most certainly half the damn reason, and that is why you are carrying Flicker.

[Rhel, when pissed, swears like a sailor.]

[Akira, Drifloon, and Morpeko awkwardly look between each other and the oncoming procession.]

...You okay?

[!!!!

Rhel stops, hair still a bit of a mess. Mheg just keeps flying around, crowing.]

Please tell me you did not just hear all of that. I try very hard not to swear in front of other people...

No, I heard all of it.

[Flatly. No point in lying.]

[She visibly deflates, ears down and everything.]

I try so hard, but not only did I have that little terror trying to use my hair as a nest, I had a hundred bloody bats swoop out of no where to harass me! Please don't think differently of me after that little display.

I don't. That's nothing compared to some friends of mine.

[Ryuji.]

You don't have to try that hard around me, if you don't want to. ...But we should keep it down now.

[Futaba, when she's gaming.

But Rhel nods and reaches up to pluck Flicker out of her Murkrow's claws....while the bird just settles down on Rhel's head.

A sigh.]

I should not be used to this, and yet...
