What: They're going to search for the gym leader! Maybe learn more about the Truth in the ruins. Gonna become the new protagonists of the Indiana Jones movie.

[ Hello, this is the preamble of the log. Joonghyuk has rounded his closest companions (Dokja and Sooyoung) and... Some people he somewhat likes. With Fai having confirmed to have regained some of his powers last month, then Hythlo's sixth sense, he thinks they would be useful for the expedition. What Joonghyuk doesn't know is that this will be a complete disaster.

Joonghyuk, however, has done his best to keep chaos to a minimum with the amount of supplies he has prepared. Yes, it includes desert survival clothing. He's quite adamant on preparation, almost rabid, but who wants to die in the desert? Who even wants to die? ]

... Would you say the feeling is strange?

[ Because, to be honest, Dokja seldom ever talks about how he feels unless it's about how confident he is about his plans. ]

[Hythlodaeus watches the married couple drama with some interest, but now that Joonghyuk brings it up...]

I do feel quite comfortable here, too. A part of me expected the place to feel solemn, yet I would compare it to the cozy atmosphere of a cafe, mayhap.

I didn't really feel anything until now so it definitely stands out. [ Which is to answer: yes, it is strange. It was sudden and that is strange enough as is. ]

..I can agree with that comparison. [ It's enough that he feels like he can relax here. So, Hythlodaeus feels it too. Joonghyuk and Sooyoung meanwhile don't seem to have made any mention about it though? He wonders if Fai feels any different or is he like the other pair. ]

[ Fai just smiles, watching them. Being threatened to be killed like that brings back memories... ]

I also think it feels nice here. I wouldn't mind staying here for a while, in fact.

[ He pauses. ]

Normally, I would think this feeling has to do with a spell that has been cast here but... I can't sense anything like that anymore.

[Hythlo raises his tomestone to get a better look around. This time it's Joonghyuk who gets it in the eye, since Sooyoung hid behind him.]

I cannot say I see aught out of the ordinary, at the very least not yet.

[He lowers the tomestone again, and then after a second's thought switches the light's colour to a warmer yellow. Imagine if he'd done that from the start instead of half-blinding people. The softer lighting does make the ruin seem a little more homey, though...]

There we go. A few more light sources like this, and I believe this place could make quite a good cafe, no? Would anyone like a boba?

[ Considering that Dokja, Fai, and Hythlo are the psychic trio and that it was discussed before entering the ruin past the stone slab, Sooyoung takes note of what they're talking about. She thinks they're subtly influenced by whatever powers take hold here, and that honestly doesn't bode well. It could be a comfortable feeling, but if it's just as easy to give them those sorts of emotions, it can be just as easy to do the opposite. Sooyoung doesn't feel anything that the three are describing, and she doesn't need to turn around to see if Joonghyuk is dragging his sword because she'd hear it... and she doesn't. Sooyoung's Ditto turns into something shaped like a baseball cap and rests itself on Sooyoung's head. It's mostly to get the light out of her eyes when she walks ahead, even if it changed to a warmer tone.

She doesn't say anything to Hythlo's suggestion of boba either because she's not the one who wants to drink it. She'll just have to be more alert than the others to make up for it.

Ruins like these could have traps, so Sooyoung creates an avatar, which to others, looks as if Sooyoung just split in two, except one doesn't have a hat. She mentally orders the avatar to go check for traps, in which the copy runs off with a lighter that Sooyoung tosses at it. If there are pitfalls, arrows shooting, or whatever other cliche things ahead, she'll know if the avatar is affected by it. ]

I would love some boba!

[ ...Because of course he would.

In the meantime, Fai watches Sooyoung practically split in two and he raises his eyebrows. What an interesting ability... ]

[Hythlo frowns a little as Sooyoung splits into her avatar. So that's what she meant back then, huh... He still finds it repulsive to use one's abilities to torment others. As far as he's concerned, Sooyoung isn't human.

Hythlo focuses on the boba request instead, because that's a better thing to think about than how angry Sooyoung makes him.]

At once, my dear Fai! I hope the Cacnea flower specialty will be fine?

[Snap. In the city itself, Hythlo prefers to actually buy the tea, because supporting local businesses is important, but at this point it's still a common enough concept that he barely needs to concentrate to create it. He catches the cup that pops into the air before it could fall and hands it over to Fai with a bow.]

[ Joonghyuk also doesn't want to drink any boba, so the other two can figure that out. Chewy tapioca balls is... Calming. With psychic type in mind, he tosses over a Pokeball and a little Natu comes out. It perches on Sooyoung's shoulder.

The Natu has a purpose now. ]

It's safe to assume that there is something worth searching for here, then... But also that these ruins are active.

[ After the avatars check for traps and they can proceed, he shines light on the forked path.

wait....... what the fuck—why are there more boba cups? ]

Did you make that?

[Hythlo gives Joonghyuk a questioning look, already sipping on another boba he made for himself. After spending so much time around Fai and Hien, he forgets other people might not know about his powers...]

Yes? Would you like some too, master Joonghyuk?

[ Dokja is also a little interested in that particular ability. Watching with interest, though he does raise a brow to how his companion is addressed. "Master", huh?

Though, there's quite a difference between a middle schooler calling Joonghyuk that and.. well, Hythlo here. Even so, the reader looks clearly amused. It's kinda funny.

But, he isn't particularly thirsty, so he steps a little ahead to watch the split with Avatar. Looking around with some interest. There should be more to it but, so far? He's not really seeing anything. ]

[ When Dokja passes by him, he smacks him. Why does it look like you want to laugh? Don't even think about laughing, you smarmy bastard?

To Hythlo, he gives him a stern learn, but his eyebrow twitches as he thinks on this. ]

... I'll have one. [ Sooyoung hasn't given him lemon candy in such a long time and now he kind of wants something to occupy his mouth. Chew, bite, crunch, whatever. ] Can you also conjure minions?

[ To help scouting... Since it looks like they'll need to split, but Joonghyuk would rather have the first parts checked before they go in deeper. ]

[Hythlo nods. Boba for everyone!]

Any preference on the flavour, master Joonghyuk?

[He raises his hand, readying another snap of the fingers - it's quite fun to do, he thinks. The next question catches him unawares though.]

Minions? Do you mean like our Pokemon?

... Oolong milk tea.

[ Does Hythlo even know what that is or tastes like? He assumes he does. ]

Anything that can scout, but yes. Similar. Han Sooyoung's ability has its limits.

[ Like the memories... And losing the avatars prove to be a problem. ]

[ Sooyoung would appreciate it if neither Dokja nor Joonghyuk spilled on how her abilities work, so the two are going to get a Look. Anyway, after some scouting, Sooyoung comes back. The avatar just kinda seemingly merges with her seamlessly as she walks back. Nothing weird here. Yeah. ]

No typical traps. The path seems to branch off into the forever though. It's like walking into a hotel floor and all those doors would lead to a separate path. We might as well use something like the Hansel and Gretel strategy.

[ It's okay, Sooyoung. He's only mentioning limits so that they don't have to always rely on you to do All of the Work. Isn't that good? Stroking his chin, he thinks on how they "drop crumbs"... ]

I have a marker if we want to track our progress and path, but only one.

[ So... They need another method here? ]

[Fortunately, dining has been nearly the One thing that doesn't give Hythlo depression nowadays, so he's spent a lot of time learning about the local cuisine. He has to focus for the oolong, though, because that's not a flavour he's worked with before. Instead of the near-instantanious snap-and-boba, faint shreds of light appear out of nowhere, spin together, resolve into the cup. Hythlo hands the result to Joonghyuk, carefully ignoring Sooyoung and anything related to her still.]

I cannot create living things, I fear. Spinning a soul is nigh impossible, and requires tremendous amounts of energy. This world is barren in aether, so 'tis my own life force I must needs rely on for my creations...

[He pauses for a moment, looking thoughtful.]

...'Tis possible to use the energy of others, I expect, but I would much rather prefer not to.

... The power of creation.

[ He will take the cup, weirdly giving it a sniff? Though the straw? Because he's like that, then samples a sip. It is definitely oolong milk tea, though a little different.

Tolerable.

The boba is chewy and that's all he really needs. ]

Save your energy then until you need it.

[ No more! Energy sucking boba! ]

[Straw sniff... Hythlo has a feeling these little mannerisms are the reason why he's so predisposed to like Joonghyuk.]

Aye. The power possessed of all my people... Albeit only of me now.

[Everyone He Knows Is Dead.]

If we wish to mark our way along, I could spin us some luminescent crystals to affix to the walls. Such things do not take much out of me.

[ Imagine thinking Dokja would spill all their secrets? The man who kept most plans to himself, especially those that involved his own sacrifice. Hahaha-- He won't speak of the details around Avatar, it's fine. And if he stumbled a bit from that earlier smack from Joonghyuk, he doesn't show it. Smoothly walking along to inspect and with the information provided? ]

We can try splitting up. Could probably have some luck finding something.

[ Of course it isn't that easy, but. Something to work with for now while they try to come up with other things? His Pupitar is quite a shield so he won't be going down a path unprotected at least.

Otherwise, he doesn't have much to offer in the "leave traces to find their way back" so he lets everyone else supply to that. He's just a reader with a cell phone! Well, he also has his demon transformation but, that isn't going to help much here. ]

We'll try and focus on doing things in simple ways for now, don't push yourself too hard. [ Which is said to both Sooyoung and Hythlo. Don't overexert yourselves. ]

Then we'll also try using the crystals.

[ Someone has to try putting them on once Hythlo conjures them out of nothing.

While Joonghyuk thinks that they should also split up, he's a bit worried... About Dokja going anywhere by himself, but with a couple of paths they should all have a buddy or an avatar. ]

If you end up finding nothing, return to the main room either by backtracking or using your rope.

[ Using the marker, he marks this piece of the wall on this corridor and...

The Chimecho whacks him?? His eyes widen in disbelief. ]

[ Sooyoung just laughs at Joonghyuk getting smacked by a Chimecho. It's undignified laughing like some sort of witch's laughter, but it's so goddamn funny to see Joonghyuk's expression like that. ]

[ Fai tries so hard to suppress his laugh, but it doesn't work that well. ]

It seems like Chimecho doesn't like that.

[ He glares at both of them... Murderous intent rising because he can't just kill the gym leader's Pokemon. Chimecho still might have some use. ]

[Sooyoung's laughter is just as Hythlo imagined it: absolutely horrifying. Fortunately for Joonghyuk, that means there's one person who isn't laughing at him, because Hythlo is too busy shuddering with an "urrgh" sound. Horrible.]

Mayhaps it thinks that we are trying to deface the ruins? I wonder if something more in tune with the surroundings would work...

[It barely takes him a moment to conjure up a warm-pinkish crystal that he tries to stick onto the wall next to Joonghyuk's intended marker sign... only to get thwapped with Chimecho's tail as well, and chime-chided in addition. The thwap is only all too loud because it strikes his mask rather than his face.]

...It appears to be no good.
