OCTOBER EVENT PT2

→ THE BEGINNING

It's on the evening of October 28th when everything quickly descends into madness.

It begins with faint static in the air, gradually becoming louder and louder until it's impossible to ignore, the pattern of cries that was once hidden now audible to everybody as it grows and grows until it culminates in an explosion. The walls of the local bookstore burst outwards, a rampaging Hydreigon within unleashing Hyper Beam after Hyper Beam without any rest in between. Its trainer, an old man, hobbles up to it in a panic in order to ask what's wrong, but the Pokemon knocks him to the ground, ignoring him and continuing to destroy everything in its path while its trainer lies motionless on the ground, blood pouring from his head.

Further down the street, another eruption shakes the city, a group of Galarian Rapidashes slamming themselves against walls and windows until they break through, careening and crashing through buildings with wild abandon. Occupants inside a cafe scream as they attempt to flee, crushed under rubble and trampled by merciless hooves. From the sky, Murkrows and Natus swoop down on residents on the streets, long talons outstretched to claw at any exposed skin and pluck out any staring eyes. All around the city, Pokeballs burst open on their own and the Pokemon rush madly at human and Pokemon alike, disregarding orders or pleads from their trainers and attacking anything within sight in a wild frenzy.

Fires blaze across the city as children wail and adults scream. All the while, the pattern of cries continues...

→ THE RAMPAGE

Throughout the night, dark, ghost, and psychic-type Pokemon rampage throughout Mango City. Wild Pokemon appear from the outskirts of town and attack anyone and anything on sight, while companion Pokemon force themselves out of their balls and turn upon their trainers. No other types seem to be affected, the other Pokemon just as confused and distraught as the humans as they're forced to run from, defend against, and fight the Pokemon they were once allied with.

While many of the mad Pokemon physically assault those around them, other use innate abilities to wreak havoc. Musharnas emit a dark mist that engulfs entire beings and brings their fears to reality, forcing all those within the fog to face the same delusions. At the same time, Shedinjas steal souls away in their shells and keep them captive in a shared endless nightmare of their worst experiences relived. Similarly, Beheeyems cause those nearby to reexperience their most feared and hated moments, erasing all memory after that moment in order to trap their victims in that vulnerable mindset of the past. Meanwhile, Zoroarks trap their targets within grand illusions that force them to undergo a series of deaths over and over again, causing them excruciating pain and suffering while their physical bodies continue to live. Haunters phase in and out of walls to surprise and lick their victims, sapping years off their life and causing a frigid shivering that won't stop until they wither away, and Gengars loom in the shadows, sapping heat away from its surroundings and causing the small and the weak to slowly freeze to death. Umbreons spray poisonous sweat all over the street, causing people to choke and convulse if they stay too long near the toxic areas, and Cofagriguses drag humans into their coffins and wrap them up as mummies, bound so tightly nobody can hear them scream. No amount of pleading nor bargaining will cause any of them to stop; the only option left is to defeat them in battle, either by killing them or knocking them out.

It'd be kinder to do the latter, but in the heat of the moment, it's difficult to hold back. It's desperate times, after all, as the city streets soon begin to fill with the cold and still bodies of both Pokemon and humans.

→ HELP...?

At the outskirts of town bordering the forest, herds of Stantler lead the unaffected and helpless deeper into the forest into an area where the trees are so densely packed that even the shine of the moon can't break through. The only source of light are the small Litwicks that scurry towards the humans, smiling and holding out their little hands. Follow them. They'll keep you safe(?).

Perhaps it's time to abandon the city, where the fires continue to grow and rage throughout the streets, threatening to engulf entire neighborhood blocks. The hospital and Pokemon Center get repurposed to disaster zones as the doctors and nurses struggle to treat their patients while fending off rampaging Pokemon at the same time. Mari's large Steelixes wrap themselves around the buildings to become iron walls keeping the wild Pokemon out, but even their great defense struggles against the never ending attacks.

In the midst of the ongoing disaster, the radio tower remains undamaged and completely abandoned, untouched by the rampaging Pokemon outside. The receptionist has fled long ago, leaving the front doors open but the door to the stairs and the elevator up remaining locked. The tower stands empty and silent, completely free of the static and pattern of cries playing outside, the one place of reprieve from the hell that has descended upon Mango City.

⬥ This event is forward dated to the evening and night of the 28th and may last past the 28th if no proper IC measures are taken to stop the rampaging Pokemon. The OOC deadline to solve and fix the disaster will be October 29.

[ When the bushes rustle, she immediately draws back and grips onto Toki's sleeve with her other hand. She stares with fear, but once Hana-chan runs out, she... relaxes, for a reason that she doesn't understand. ]

What... What is that?

A bear?

[With rabbit ears. A bear rabbit. The Spinda wobbles, looking at Toki with a mix of confusion and recognition. He's different, but he's Toki. She makes a little whimpering noise. It's wrong. It's wrong. She bares her teeth at Niko; she knows this one too. Chanseys!]

Hey!

[Toki steps in front of Niko to glare down at Hana-chan. Hana-chan...]

Hana-chan?

[The glare subsides into bewilderment, and he remembers her. She threw sand at him on the beach, and... those overalls. He knows them.]

It's Hana-chan!

[That may mean nothing to Niko yet, but it does to the Spinda. Hana-chan weaves over and then pounces, attaching herself to Toki's legs, both of them, and making a weepy screeching noise. He's different, but he's still hers! She can tell!]

[ She reels back when the Spinda bares her teeth and immediately freezes up again. The recognition doesn't sink in as quickly as it does for Toki and she stares as Hana-chan attaches herself to his legs. The sense of familiarity is strong, but she can't put her finger on it. ]

[ She doesn't get much time to ponder on it as something swoops down from the sky and immediately starts to peck at them. It's a Murkrow. It has a flower pin attached to the feathers of its head. ]

[Both Toki and Hana-chan scream at the incoming Murkrow. Then Hana-chan wobbly points at it. It's that girl's. Hairpin, hairpin! Toki does not understand, and never noticed any of Niko's Pokemon from before because he was too busy freaking out all the time. Now he just grabs Niko's hand and tries to run while the Spinda clings, making it very hard.]

[ The sense of deja vu returns, but as Toki takes her hand, she doesn't have enough time to look at the Murkrow for anything to sink in. She stumbles as she is suddenly forced up to her feet and forced to run. It's a very slow start as she nearly trips and it allows for the Pokemon to grab hold of her hair. ]

[ She screams. ]

No! No, let her go!

[Toki stops in his tracks, turning around to try and beat the Murkrow with his flashlight. That bird is going down!]

[ The flashlight is enough to knock the bird off with a loud caw, but it only manages to have him redirect his anger and attacks to Toki. It pecks and claws at his head then even goes down to target his precious Hana-chan just for being associated with him. ]

[There's a lot of shrieking from both Toki and Hana-chan. Toki's fake eye falls out and rolls across the ground. Thanks, Murkrow. Don't eat it.]

Hana-chan, do something!

[She can't! She ate her ammo!]

[ Even under a spell of madness, the Murkrow can't ignore the desire to hoard every shiny object that it sees. Immediately, it flies down to take the eye into its beak but before it can put it in its inventory (aka its stomach), a wheelchair comes crashing out of nowhere and sends the bird squawking, dropping its new treasure. In a flurry of activity, a small brown dog and a pink bear move to sit on the Murkrow before a giant pink ball moves to contain it in a small trash can. It's... a whole thing. ]

[ Niko can barely register what's happening, but she immediately runs over to Toki. ]

A-Are you all right?! Your eye came out!

I'm okay!

[But he pulls Niko close to him. For some reason, he's terrified of that pink ball thing. He can't quite remember why. It's helping them, but... that smile.]

[ Once capturing the Murkrow in the trash can and holding the lid tightly, the Chansey turns and smiles. Hello! :) She slowly waddles towards them as the Rockruff and Stufful run. They immediately crowd by Niko's feet and make all kinds of noises. They were so worried! She disappeared! She's also standing and that's not good! She needs to sit! ]

[ Niko stares at them, but the memory is still locked in a hazy fog. As she slowly kneels down, they stand on their back legs to nuzzle her. It's not until she hesitantly reaches out to pet them on the head that things start to click back into place. ]

Tokidoki, these are my friends! They're just like Hana-chan! They're, ummm... Hachiko! And Kuma! And...

[ She stares at the Chansey, who is now right in front of them. Hello!! :) ]

Nurse Chansey!

[Hachiko and Kuma.]

Those are good names...

[Because you can remember them. And he does. He was on the sidewalk and Niko was there with those... Pokemon? Pokemon. In a wheelchair outside of... an arcade. She was here too. She was here too before, and he didn't know her. What is happening? Toki's thoughts remain unvoiced as the Chansey pops into his line of vision with that horrible smile. Toki screams.

Hana-chan looks alarmed, whipping her head around from where she'd been collecting Toki's eyeball. The Chansey!! She growls and looks like she's going to throw Toki's eye at the Chaney, but... she can't because she needs to keep it. A dilemma.]

[ The Niko in the past never properly understood that Toki was always screaming because of the Chanseys. She just assumed that he just... screamed for whatever reason, so this current version of Niko has no idea what's going on. ]

Wh-What is it?!

[ The Chansey looks down at Hana-chan and smiles. Hello! :) ]

[Hana-chan scurries back to Toki and glares at the Chansey. Toki stops screaming and clutches her tightly instead.]

It's... they're... I don't know why, but it scares me! Like... I can see it looking down at me and I was... in the hospital and... on the beach... and... then... no... I'm really confused, but I don't like it.

[Only Hana-chan knows the Chansey's true nature, deliberately breaking Toki's hand so she would have another patient. She's onto you, Chansey.]

[ Chansey has no idea what Toki is talking about and why Hana-chan is glaring at her. She just continues to smile. Hello! :) ]

Oh, um, then...

[ Niko looks torn. She doesn't want Toki to be uncomfortable, but she also feels bad to send Chansey away, especially when she was treated so kindly. She doesn't know what to do, but then she looks at the violently shaking trash can. Oh, that has her bird! Hiro... Hiro something. Hmm... Hiroto! Right! An idea comes to mind. ]

Um, Nurse Chansey, can you go to the Pokemon Centre with Hiroto? Maybe someone can help him there?

[ The pink ball chirrups with confusion and tilts her entire body at a 45-degree angle. It seems like a bad idea if she leaves them alone. She can heal if they're hurt! ]

[Toki will take any opportunity to get rid of the Chansey.]

That's a great idea, Niko~! That poor bird is suffering in there! It's only right that a nurse do her job and take care of him!

M-Mmhm! Please take good care of Hiroto, Nurse Chansey!

[ Well, if they really insist then so be it! This Chansey will run back to the Pokemon Centre to knock some sense back into this bird! She stands back up straight and gives them one more smile before she leaves. Goodbye! :) ]

[ Niko's Rockruff and Stufful remain, still seeking affection and attention from their trainer. She chooses to stay kneeling down so she can give them all the pets and love that they want, but she turns her head up at Toki. ]

Are you feeling better now?

[Toki keeps his eye on the Chansey until she waddles out of sight; Hana-chan does the same. Once she's gone, Toki's anxiety eases for the moment.]

Yeah, I just... I don't know what it was about her...

[He takes his eye from Hana-chan, and it's probably very unsanitary to just put it back in, so it goes in his pocket for now.]

We should get somewhere safe.

[Murkrows caw ominously in the distance.]

[ Hachiko's ears perk up and he barks. He knows a safe place! They found one while they were looking for her! He slips from underneath Niko's hand and takes a few steps in a direction before looking back. ]

I think... that he wants us to follow him.

[ Niko glances back up at Toki. ]

Okay.

[He picks up Hana-chan and she clings to neck so he can hold her with one hand, and have one free for Niko.]

Go on, uh... Hachiko!

[Easy to remember.]

[ Standing back up, Niko takes Toki's free hand. Hachiko barks again and begins to run, trying not to go too fast for either of them. He occasionally stops and glances behind him to make sure that they're still following before he heads off once more. Eventually, they'll reach the outskirts of the city and stand in front of the dark forest. ]

[ Niko stops (perhaps for the third or fourth time) and tries to catch her breath. Once again, her heart begins to ache and her throat burns with each gasp of air. She can't say anything as she glances at the trees and the darkness that surrounds them. There's hardly any light in the woods. It's just as dense and terrifying as the one that surrounds Akamori. ]

[Toki has lost faith in Hachiko. Why did he take them to the woods? He's panicking internally, but can't let Niko see too much of it. His hand is sweaty, but he doesn't let go of hers; waiting with her while she catches her breath. In the dark forest, something moves. Toki stops breathing, trying not to move as he searches the treeline for... the lion-monkey.

But it's not. It's a Stantler, bounding out in front of them. A few more follow, and little lights appear in the woods.]

[ Hachiko goes up to the Stantlers and boofs softly at them. They look down at him before back up at the two humans. One of them nods their head and begins to slowly walk into the woods. The dog barks before following the deers. Kuma also tags along. ]

[ Niko, still trying to catch her breath, looks up at Toki. She can't speak so she silently asks for his thoughts. Do they dare to wander in? Where the lion-monkey may be? ]

[This is horrible. He has to make a decision, and the deer and Niko's Pokemon are getting further away while he thinks it over. What if he says they should go, and there's a lion-monkey, or several? Hana-chan bobbles her head, and Toki doesn't know what that means. She's not helping.]

S-should we go?

[Yeah. He'll let Niko decide.]
