OCTOBER EVENT PT2
OCTOBER EVENT PT2

→ THE BEGINNING
(click to expand - happy early Halloween)
It's on the evening of October 28th when everything quickly descends into madness. It begins with faint static in the air, gradually becoming louder and louder until it's impossible to ignore, the pattern of cries that was once hidden now audible to everybody as it grows and grows until it culminates in an explosion. The walls of the local bookstore burst outwards, a rampaging Hydreigon within unleashing Hyper Beam after Hyper Beam without any rest in between. Its trainer, an old man, hobbles up to it in a panic in order to ask what's wrong, but the Pokemon knocks him to the ground, ignoring him and continuing to destroy everything in its path while its trainer lies motionless on the ground, blood pouring from his head.
Further down the street, another eruption shakes the city, a group of Galarian Rapidashes slamming themselves against walls and windows until they break through, careening and crashing through buildings with wild abandon. Occupants inside a cafe scream as they attempt to flee, crushed under rubble and trampled by merciless hooves. From the sky, Murkrows and Natus swoop down on residents on the streets, long talons outstretched to claw at any exposed skin and pluck out any staring eyes. All around the city, Pokeballs burst open on their own and the Pokemon rush madly at human and Pokemon alike, disregarding orders or pleads from their trainers and attacking anything within sight in a wild frenzy.
Fires blaze across the city as children wail and adults scream. All the while, the pattern of cries continues...
→ THE RAMPAGE
(click to expand - you're in for a bad time)
Throughout the night, dark, ghost, and psychic-type Pokemon rampage throughout Mango City. Wild Pokemon appear from the outskirts of town and attack anyone and anything on sight, while companion Pokemon force themselves out of their balls and turn upon their trainers. No other types seem to be affected, the other Pokemon just as confused and distraught as the humans as they're forced to run from, defend against, and fight the Pokemon they were once allied with. While many of the mad Pokemon physically assault those around them, other use innate abilities to wreak havoc. Musharnas emit a dark mist that engulfs entire beings and brings their fears to reality, forcing all those within the fog to face the same delusions. At the same time, Shedinjas steal souls away in their shells and keep them captive in a shared endless nightmare of their worst experiences relived. Similarly, Beheeyems cause those nearby to reexperience their most feared and hated moments, erasing all memory after that moment in order to trap their victims in that vulnerable mindset of the past. Meanwhile, Zoroarks trap their targets within grand illusions that force them to undergo a series of deaths over and over again, causing them excruciating pain and suffering while their physical bodies continue to live. Haunters phase in and out of walls to surprise and lick their victims, sapping years off their life and causing a frigid shivering that won't stop until they wither away, and Gengars loom in the shadows, sapping heat away from its surroundings and causing the small and the weak to slowly freeze to death. Umbreons spray poisonous sweat all over the street, causing people to choke and convulse if they stay too long near the toxic areas, and Cofagriguses drag humans into their coffins and wrap them up as mummies, bound so tightly nobody can hear them scream. No amount of pleading nor bargaining will cause any of them to stop; the only option left is to defeat them in battle, either by killing them or knocking them out.
It'd be kinder to do the latter, but in the heat of the moment, it's difficult to hold back. It's desperate times, after all, as the city streets soon begin to fill with the cold and still bodies of both Pokemon and humans.
→ HELP...?
(click to expand - is anyone even sane enough left to help)
At the outskirts of town bordering the forest, herds of Stantler lead the unaffected and helpless deeper into the forest into an area where the trees are so densely packed that even the shine of the moon can't break through. The only source of light are the small Litwicks that scurry towards the humans, smiling and holding out their little hands. Follow them. They'll keep you safe(?).Perhaps it's time to abandon the city, where the fires continue to grow and rage throughout the streets, threatening to engulf entire neighborhood blocks. The hospital and Pokemon Center get repurposed to disaster zones as the doctors and nurses struggle to treat their patients while fending off rampaging Pokemon at the same time. Mari's large Steelixes wrap themselves around the buildings to become iron walls keeping the wild Pokemon out, but even their great defense struggles against the never ending attacks.
In the midst of the ongoing disaster, the radio tower remains undamaged and completely abandoned, untouched by the rampaging Pokemon outside. The receptionist has fled long ago, leaving the front doors open but the door to the stairs and the elevator up remaining locked. The tower stands empty and silent, completely free of the static and pattern of cries playing outside, the one place of reprieve from the hell that has descended upon Mango City.

The creature is at first seemingly comprised of the fog itself, but it's different. Darker and more of a solid entity, yet still shadowy. There's no one else here, so who's illusion is this?]
no subject
I hunger...
It lunges at Atsushi with an outstretched hand, claws ready to tear at anything as long as there's substance--anything to tear. Anything. Anything. ]
cw: gore from here ig
Panicked, he tries to run, but the shadow hand is too quick. It shouldn't hurt this much. This isn't real! But it does hurt, the claws tearing into side. He's been impaled more than once, and this isn't as bad in comparison yet. But the fact that he thought yet is terrifying. The creature's claws scrape across muscle and tendons, and sever nerves. He can hear himself screaming, but it's distant compared to the other noises in the air. His own fingernails form into claws, but that's all he has to defend himself with right now; Pokemon completely forgotten yet again.
Gritting his teeth and shifting so he can reach, Atsushi tries to claw at the shadow arm and penetrate it somehow. Does it even have flesh to puncture?]
cw suicidal ideation
I want to feed. Devour. tHIs wOrLD. Livestock. Feed. Feed. Feed. Feed. FeEd. fEEd. FeED. Fe▒▒
The monster lets out a roar and tries to slash at Atsushi from moving its hand inside his body. ]
cw: more gore :( - sorry flatview
Atsushi screams again as the hand moves inside the opening its made. He chokes, expelling dark blood from his mouth. He knows what happened; not certain which organ, but one's been punctured. Everything feels simultaneously hot and cold. The warmth of blood pooling inside his abdomen like fire as it seeps away from his extremities. The monster claws continue to tear at his insides, and his only thought is to try and grab the shadow and pull it out. He won't heal until it's out. But again, it's like reaching for nothing and he can't stop this from happening.]
Cw not quite vore but there is gross eating
His arm eats Atsushi's leg in reality below the knee. Hien tastes human flesh and the blood and he wants to throw up. In the illusion, the monster swipes at Atsushi's leg to dismember it. ]
cw: gore and dismemberment
Why is it always the leg?The howl is so loud and so visceral, and Atsushi stops all attempts to defind himself to cover his ears. Blood runs out of one of them. He doesn't have time to think about that as a familiar pain shoots up his leg. His screams are ragged and broken; he's losing his voice, but it hurts so much.He dares to look back, and yes. It's gone. The lower half of his leg lying away from him, bones separated and ligaments and muscle shredded and sticking out of the stump of flesh. Maybe this is his nightmare he's trapped in after all; this shadow monster some approximation of Akutagawa, intent on killing him because he's weak and pathetic, yet he still won't die. Like some annoying worm with additional hearts, that cut in half would still survive.]
CW More gore, more not good eating, emeto, violence
Hien feels hysterical and tries to restrain his arm by using his other hand, but it doesn't work. Force the gears to turn. Turn. Turn. Stop all this. Just. Turn--
It doesn't turn.
There's so much blood on the ground. The bone that sticks out of Atsushi's leg is part of the combination with the taste of human flesh and guts is why Hien actually throws up this time. A small silver lining--none of it is on either of them. The mask has been put away into his cloak for now.
Why should this have to be a definite future? It's called "future mode" for a reason--
...
...?
Hien's pokemon have been fighting the Musharna and group of Beeheyems the entire time and it finally starts whittling down the numbers, weakening their effects on both Hien and Atsushi. Hien starts regaining his memories that he lost and there's a sort of clarity and dread that washes over his entire being.
The mist still lingers, though it's getting weaker. The monster also stops attacking in the illusion. The arm returns to normal in reality.
Awful.
Everything about this is awful.
He feels sick. ]
Atsushi. Atsushi!
[ He rarely raises his voice, but god... Hien thinks Atsushi is dying. Forget his own shoulder wound-- healing. Can he heal? Hien just looks at his own hands before trying to dig something out of the cloak. ]
cw: gore
That never comes. The monster stops; it stands there, not even menacingly, like it hadn't just been tearing him apart. The fog fades into more misty surroundings, and he can faintly hear someone calling his name. He doesn't recognize the voice. It's louder the second time, but he can't respond to it. He just looks up at the monster, choking on his own blood, and waiting for... something.]
cw: gore
There's nothing in his cloak that can remedy this at all. Bandages are useless. First aid kits don't work if there are several gaping holes through the body. God, he hopes Atsushi has some sort of healing ability. Hien is useless right now.
But it's about time. Flareon and the others manage to knock out the rogue pokemon. The monster disappears, the black particles disappearing with the mist. Hien absolutely refuses to shake Atsushi in case he does have some sort of healing skill. Shaking is also useless. ]
Atsushi! Can you heal? Stay with me here!
cw: gore
There's an agonizing few seconds when he thinks it isn't going to kick in, that this is too much for what he's gotten back, but no. There's a slight blue glow around the wounds as things repair themselves. Damaged organs knit back together, others regrow entirely along with new ribs, covered by muscle and tendons and finally flesh. No scars remain. His leg seems to rebuild itself section by section instead of regrowth out of the stump, like a regression back to its original state somehow.
It all takes mere seconds, but he feels all of it. It hurts just as much to heal as it did to be maimed. Atsushi sits up slowly and looks at Hien; there's echoes of fear left in his gaze, and his voice is scratchy and raw. He hasn't retracted his claws.]
Hien?
no subject
Don't... move too much. You just healed and probably need some time to stabilize.
[ He keeps his hands to himself. Since he doesn't have his mask over his face, his face clearly shows his expressions. He's currently distraught and actually looks regretful at what he's done. ]
I'm sorry. This was my fault. I lost control and...
[ Did all these things. He's expecting to get yelled at at the very least, if not demanding a restraining order that lasts forever. ]
... I'll help you get to a hospital. You need to rest, but not in the middle of chaos.
no subject
I'm fine, I...
[Without the mask, Hien is an open book and Atsushi... can empathize. Hien's just done what he always fears he will. Lose control and hurt someone. Kill someone, because most people would have died here. He doesn't step any closer, but he doesn't yell or even look angry, just... sad.]
You... you didn't lose control; that thing controlled you. It made you think you were some kind of monster, didn't it? I saw it.
no subject
I thought I was living in the moment when I first got the power. It... wasn't pretty.
[ As Atsushi has seen. ]
That was a long time ago. I have control over it now, assuming I don't get my mind time traveled to the past somehow.
[ That's about as truthful as he can get. ]
I'm sorry, again. I have to owe you.
no subject
It's alright. I forgive you.
[Maybe Hien needs to hear that, and maybe he doesn't. Atsushi thinks Hien is more affected by this, and rightfully so. Judgements from yourself are always more harsh and harder to get past, if it's possible at all. In Hien's place, no matter the words of his victim, Atsushi would never forgive himself. So maybe his words are meaningless after all. Though, it's not the time for reflections and they can discuss things later, if necessary.]
Right now, this is still happening all over the city, and we should-
[-go help. But he doesn't get to say that. Like most times he's used a lot of power, he blacks out. Sorry, Hien.]
no subject
He's about to agree about moving on, but then Atsushi blacks out, startling Hien. He sure has been on edge for a bit to be startled by something like that. He lets out a sigh he didn't know he was holding and goes to pick up Atsushi--right, his shoulder is still fucked up. Unlike Atsushi, Hien didn't regain regeneration yet. He slings Atsushi over the shoulder that isn't wounded and goes off to carry him to the hospital while his pokemon follow him. He changes his appearance to the orange head he used before before entering the hospital. He tells the nurses that Atsushi only fainted, so if they could nurse and feed him when he wakes up, that would be great. Meanwhile, he needs to get his shoulder looked at. ]
