[As you walk around the city, be it for pleasure or on some errand, there is a very good chance that you will suddenly be swarmed by tiny kids who arrive to happily kick you in the shins. Fortunately, they are still very small, so the kicks are about as effective as being slapped with a soft toy. In fact, some of them choose to press their Pokemon's paws against your ankles instead. Upon questioning, the kids happily explain: it's kick day! The day you can kick if you're small! A day of revenge, cries one of the kids!

An older child, tagging behind the group - clearly the designated babysitter, and bored of the antics, - explains that it's the National Kick A Tall Person Day. That's it, really. You kick anyone taller than you in the shins, - here she half-heartedly taps your legs with her foot, - and you can try to dodge kicks from shorter people. The toddlers love it.

There you have it. You are now free to participate in tormenting anyone taller than you! It seems like the power of the kick is fully dependent on your desire. Do you take this chance at revenge? Do you ignore it to go about your business and avoid further attacks for the day? Do you have an (ir)rational fear of getting kicked and hole up in your room for the day?

Should you try to return the kick favour, however, the kids stop you, frowning, and explain that no, you're not allowed to kick back, you're only allowed to throw the shorter people! Almost immediately, you are surrounded by children demanding you throw them up and down. Enjoy!

[As Joss makes his way through the city, stoically suffering the many kiddy kicks, he may come across a not-entirely-regular sight, which is Hythlodaeus sitting under a tree some way off the sidewalk, with all of his shirts off, a strange vaguely cone-like Pokemon next to him. The Pokemon keeps shaking its head, and with each shake sparkly droplets fall on Hythlo. If Joss manages to catch the angle from his back, well, Hythlo's back sure took a beating, as though someone dropped a rock on it, and then jumped all over his spine several times.]

[Joss does catch the scene from Hythlo's back, and very nearly drops his cargo from shock. The tall figure in front of him can only be Hythlodaeus, but what in hells happened to him?]

[He doesn't say anything else, but he's close enough that Hythlo likely heard that exclamation.]

[The voice is familiar, and Hythlo tries to turn around--only to hiss and groan in pain, bringing up a hand slowly to massage at his neck. He could have died today.]

[Oh no... He hurt him further...]

Pardon me. Are you alright?

[Hythlo waves a hand weakly.]

'Tis fine, I was simply surprised. Would you like to sit down?

[Psychea turns to watch Joss, even though she has no eyes. That guy has busted up ankles too, huh. Fine, she can take on more work if it stops these two being sad about getting kicked, although in Hythlo's case it was completely deserved.]

I... got into a fight, of sorts.

[Joss tries not to stare at Psychea as he sits near Hythlo. Are those ears buff? He's probably just imagining things...]

You kicked back.

[It's honestly more of a question than a statement, even if it doesn't sound like it. It just makes sense to him that failing to follow the holiday's rules would result in some type of punishment.]

...If only it was so noble. My attacker took issue with my being unhappy to be assaulted like that.

[He grumbles. This is the grumpiest Joss has seen Hythlo since that day when he totally wasn't Emet-Selch.]

[That seems... way beyond the scope of this strange holiday. It sounds like Hythlo just got straight up assaulted. At least that's a good excuse for the sour mood, unlike last time he saw him so grumpy.]

[That said, from what little he knows of Hythlo, he absolutely believes the guy could have pissed someone off badly enough for them to want to beat him up.]

["Of this world"... Maybe Hythlodaeus just means it as "this world we were transported to," but Joss can't help but feel he is yet again contrasting Amaurot with everything that came after.

But never mind that. This would be a pointless argument to have, right now.]

[As in "do you want or need help getting there," though of course someone would have to be versed in Joss-speak.]

[Amaurot never had people kicking you in the shins needlessly or trying to murder you!!! He's allowed to judge.]

I've thought of going there, yes... Mayhap once the pain subsides somewhat. 'Twould be little use to strain myself even more on the way...
