national kick a tall person day
Who: you and Hythlodaeus! Or you and any other person taller than you. Or shorter than you.
Where: errywhere around Mango City
When: October 25
What: national kick a tall person day! Get 'em in the shins!
[As you walk around the city, be it for pleasure or on some errand, there is a very good chance that you will suddenly be swarmed by tiny kids who arrive to happily kick you in the shins. Fortunately, they are still very small, so the kicks are about as effective as being slapped with a soft toy. In fact, some of them choose to press their Pokemon's paws against your ankles instead. Upon questioning, the kids happily explain: it's kick day! The day you can kick if you're small! A day of revenge, cries one of the kids!
An older child, tagging behind the group - clearly the designated babysitter, and bored of the antics, - explains that it's the National Kick A Tall Person Day. That's it, really. You kick anyone taller than you in the shins, - here she half-heartedly taps your legs with her foot, - and you can try to dodge kicks from shorter people. The toddlers love it.
There you have it. You are now free to participate in tormenting anyone taller than you! It seems like the power of the kick is fully dependent on your desire. Do you take this chance at revenge? Do you ignore it to go about your business and avoid further attacks for the day? Do you have an (ir)rational fear of getting kicked and hole up in your room for the day?
Should you try to return the kick favour, however, the kids stop you, frowning, and explain that no, you're not allowed to kick back, you're only allowed to throw the shorter people! Almost immediately, you are surrounded by children demanding you throw them up and down. Enjoy!
For those looking to extract revenge, be it for your height-related complex or for his personal transgressions, Hythlo is wandering around the city on his day off. Go get him.]

[After the first two assaults on his shins, he's gotten into the habit of trying to dodge every attack he can. In this way, by turning it into a training exercise, something that used to thoroughly annoy him has now become enjoyable. It keeps him on his toes, even though sometimes it's really easy to see an attack coming.]
[Perhaps some of the goblin children have started talking to each other about that one guy with the glasses and his mythical ability to dodge kicks. Naturally this makes more people want to kick him. He dodges. The cycle continues. Of course, most of these people are six years old, so maybe a grown ass adult or even a small Pokémon will have a better chance.]
[Hit him with your best shot, cowards. Who wants to be the One?]

You can just dodge the toddlers.
When he's sure the disappointed children are gone, he approaches the teen with a pensive look on his face, his errand nearly forgotten. He's sure whoever ordered Pointless Fetch Quest Item on this most holy of days can wait.]
I did not know it was allowed.

[Akira shrugs. This goes without saying, but he will continue to dodge the toddlers no matter what anyone says.]
Besides, they like a challenge.

'Twould explain why they seemed so disappointed with me.
[Actually it's because kicking someone who just looks at you sadly and doesn't react isn't fun, but he doesn't know that.]

[Akira takes another look at Joscelaint. A more contemplative look. Does he always have such an air of absolute resignation?]
...Because you look like a depressed punching bag?
no subject
... So I've been told. I am not the most engaging man.
[No shit Chèreleauque.]

[Just not benefits that are relevant if you're waging war with anklebiters from Hell.]
Those kids just like bullying people who react, though. Makes them feel stronger.

[There's a hint of familiarity in his voice. It's him, he was the shy kid the other children liked to pick on... at least until he became taller and stronger than them.]
'Tis only one sun, at least.

Mister Aki! I wanna play too!

Then come on. Try to get my leg!

[At some point he plans to let Efi win and kick his leg, but he's going to give her a run for her money first. So he steps out of the way of her lunge.]

"You feel like you can take more hits!" It's basically a defense buff. No booboos for Akira and herself. ]
Here I go!
[ She runs right at Akira and tries to lightly tap his shin with her foot. She's not aiming to kick him for real, because that hurts and nobody likes getting hurt. ]

[He waits til the last moment, then pulls away. It looks for all the world like he just narrowly escaped.]
Ugh, you're fast!
no subject
[ Once she skids to a stop, she leaps at Akira next. It's a little different from her previous lunging that it looks more like she's jumping over to Akira for a hug. Your shin is mine!! ]
no subject
Ah, you actually got me! Wow.
[This is not technically a lie...]
You're the first one to do it all day.
no subject
[ Efi looks really happy about that and she drops down so she can stop clinging onto Akira. ]
That was fun! You're really good at moving out of the way, Mister Aki! Do you play this game a lot?
no subject
[Akira dodges out of the way of things rather a lot! He's smiling a little bit, though.]
Being the fastest is important.

[ Baby is on a quest for p o w e r. ]

[Not every day tho!!]
That's how you build up your muscles.

[ She looks at her hands. How much was three again? She puts down a finger every time she counts until she finally gets to three. ]
Oh! This much!!
no subject
[Akira holds up three fingers.]
It's training.
no subject
[ She's very pumped up now. ]
Okay! I'm gonna start training today and run a lot. Thanks, Mister Aki!
[ She waves as she laughs and starts running off. Maybe she'll have the strongest legs a little girl can... ]
