[OPEN] 9/15 - Team Meeting

[ With an info-gathering session on the eighth, Nanami decides to wait a few more days until they're about two weeks into the month to gather everyone again. She realizes that all the team members haven't sat down properly to bond with each other in a single group setting. She knows the importance of making sure that you get every single unit to have at least an A-rank with someone (S-rank if they're super compatible) and keeping up team morale so, on the thirteenth, a familiar shiny Mimikyu comes running up to everyone with a written note pinned on his costume: ]

[ Upon entering Le Nah the following day, a waiter will show the trainer to a large area in the back with multiple tables pushed together. There are already some appetizers ordered and spread across so feel free to help yourself. Nanami sits near the middle with her Mimikyu, feeding him by dropping little bits of food in front of him, and talking with her Mudkip, who just :V :V :V, as if she understands what he's saying. ]

[There are two dishes left from the first round of menu ordering when Atsushi's had enough. He looks at them like he wants to eat them too, but he's so full.]

That was really good.

[He reluctantly pushes the plates of uneaten food over towards Nanami and her Pokemon.]

You might as well have it.

[ Nanami doesn't eat that much so she is all right on the dishes, but her Mimikyu and Mudkip immediately dig in. They're going to immediately fall asleep and she'll have to carry them home. She could put them into their Pokeballs, but she likes having her Pokemon out. They seem to enjoy it more. ]

You ate a lot. You must have a black hole for a stomach that leaves everyone wondering where all that food goes to.

[ There are plenty of characters like that in her JRPGs. ]

I don't eat that much all the time...

[Now he feels guilty, but he couldn't ignore the promise of free food. He's been saving most of his money from the boba shop just in case, and barely eating.]

Thank you for providing for everyone at the meeting, Nanami-san... and for helping at the Game Corner.

[The Mudkip aside, he's still doing a terrible job as far as he's concerned, but at least that went... somewhat well.]

[ If she finds out that he's barely eating, she'll make sure to take him out to eat. It's bad for team morale if one of the members is starving. ]

You did a very good job. Have you gotten any progress with the other mysteries you were looking into?

[That small bit of praise rings hollow, and Nanami's voice isn't as loud as the one telling him he's useless.]

Not really... Nothing has connected to make sense yet.

[Maybe he's taking on too much at once, but he can't not do anything.]

That's why we have team meetings. We do better when we raise our support ranks with everyone.

[ If she has to play matchmaker as she does in Flames Emblem then so be it. She's going to S-rank everyone for the best team. ]

Let's focus on one topic at a time. Which one did you want to solve?

I thought they were all related...?

[Atsushi has been running with the concept that everything fit together in one big mystery. The kids, the Gyarados, the storms. Their arrival.]

They might be, but it'd be easier if we solve one part of the mystery first, right? It's like working on the corners of a puzzle instead of starting in the middle.

[ Work slowly on some parts and the rest will fall into place easily. ]

[He nods, but he has never put together a puzzle and doesn't understand this analogy.]

Right... So... I think the children are the most important.

[He cares less about the storms and getting off the island.]

[ She nods as well. The missing children are definitely concerning. ]

And what do you know about them so far?

[Things that only pertain to the children...]

The girl from the beach was lying to us when she said she didn't go there by herself. She met a Drifloon on the beach, and was buried in the sand. But maybe the beach is irrelevant? Because the Drifloons have been infiltrating the hospital in gift baskets, it appears; and kids have gone missing from other places.

[He knows nothing concrete and it's all conjecture.]

[ Nanami will sit with him patiently throughout the entire night to help him, but alas, we know that's not possible. Thanks Jiro lmfao ]

Drifloons do target children, but do you know why the girl lied about going to the beach? Going to the beach is normal, isn't it?

[It's for the best. Atsushi wouldn't make it the entire night still on this subject without having a nervous breakdown.]

Her parents told her not to.

[This is a simple answer and he cannot figure out what Nanami's getting at. He can't attend the next meeting, if there is one, bringing half thought out lines of connections that go nowhere.]

[ Time to just lead him along... slowly... ]

[They didn't ask and follow up on that. Efi ate the little girl's lie and everyone freaked out.]

Then let's go to the beach or ask some parents. We can find clues if we search there more thoroughly and gather testimonies.

[ And add everything to the Court Record. She's imagining this as an Ace Lawyer game now where Atsushi is the new and upcoming protagonist who is still a little wet behind the ears and she is the quirky sidekick who helps him. ]

Why would they all be related...?

[ As if one person orchestrated all of this? It seems too much, all at once in one place. ]

[Where he's from, one person could have absolutely orchestrated all of this and it would be a normal villainy thing to do.]

Didn't mean to put you on the spot or anything... Either way is possible. So I wanted to hear your opinion: what do you think the links are between all these problems. Besides rain.

I... I don't have any links. I was looking for them. I was trying to put everything together, and if it's not related, then that was... a mistake. Please disregard any attempt at conclusions I've made thus far.

I won't. All ideas are useful, even if they turn out to be wrong. You said you were looking for the Drifloon at the beach and at the hospital... In one, kids disappeared. In another, they... didn't? What would the link be here?

[ What's common between them? ]

Did you investigate by yourself, or with somebody else?

[ Maybe he will talk to somebody else and get their opinion on everything ]

Huh? Hmm...

[Like all plans that hinge on Sagi figuring something out without a ghost telling him the answer, this line of inquiry is now doomed. He'll try, though. He was at least listening in, like he usually is.]

I mean, the one obvious link is Drifloons being involved at all. No matter who we asked about the kids who went missing, they were pretty consistent about that. So... either they're right, or the real connection has to do with the reason they all saw or thought they saw Drifloons in the first place. ...What're you getting at, anyway?
