[OPEN] 9/15 - Team Meeting

[ With an info-gathering session on the eighth, Nanami decides to wait a few more days until they're about two weeks into the month to gather everyone again. She realizes that all the team members haven't sat down properly to bond with each other in a single group setting. She knows the importance of making sure that you get every single unit to have at least an A-rank with someone (S-rank if they're super compatible) and keeping up team morale so, on the thirteenth, a familiar shiny Mimikyu comes running up to everyone with a written note pinned on his costume: ]

[ Upon entering Le Nah the following day, a waiter will show the trainer to a large area in the back with multiple tables pushed together. There are already some appetizers ordered and spread across so feel free to help yourself. Nanami sits near the middle with her Mimikyu, feeding him by dropping little bits of food in front of him, and talking with her Mudkip, who just :V :V :V, as if she understands what he's saying. ]

[ Once everyone has gathered, Nanami will start off with their first topic. ]

We should come up with a team name. Luckily, we don't have any character limits so it can be as long as we want it to be.

[ That means that they can make a super long name and the game won't stop them. Please come up with either something ridiculous or dumb. ]

[A team name is fine and probably useful, in the end. It'll give them something to refer to the lot of them that isn't "everyone not from this world". But...what the hell are character limits?]

The last world-line my companion and I were sent to had the same plans for naming the island we were staying at. One of the choices was "Gay baby jail."

[ Yeah. ...Yeah. ] So I'm kinda curious as to what kind of names this group will come up with.

To Other Islands!

If we want to go to the other islands, we'll have to either beat the boss or go around them. Attacking the Gyarados will be a bad idea, though.

[ She has various reasons for it that some people may already know. Someone can ask her if interested but otherwise, she'll give her plan. ]

The Mudkips at the Game Corner know Whirlpool. If we use a few of them at the same time, we can calm the waters and sail across without worrying about drowning. We then just need to distract, calm, or negotiate with the Gyarados. We don't always need to pick the options fight or run. We can also use items or talk.

[How does he put this? He doesn't want to put Jiro under the bus for screaming at the angry sea serpent, but also, yikes.]

We were too aggressive, I think, and it attacked anyhow.

Trying to fight it isn't possible. For my Pokémon at least. Morpeko did nothing to it.

[ Those are the main topics that Nanami wanted to discuss, so she'll let other people speak up and bring in whatever subjects they want to talk about. She'll just continue to feed her Mimikyu and her new Mudkip and yawn occasionally, rubbing her eyes, as she's sleepy (as always). If she sees someone looking over the menu, she'll speak up. ]

Don't worry about the price. Just order whatever you like. It'll be okay... I think.

[ The Game Corner has been extremely kind to her and she will be paying for everything. She's pretty sure that she has enough but if not, well, she'll figure it out. ]

[Atsushi gave all his information at the last meeting, and has nothing more to contribute. He's also not going to speak up with everyone at one makeshift table, and with several disjointed conversations going on at once. He would have left if there wasn't free food. The menu is full of things he hasn't heard of and questionable Pokemon dishes. What does a Slowpoke tail taste like?]

[ Minato is here for the food. Also everything else? But food. He has very thick leather gardening gloves on and is mostly fumbling trying to hold things until his Yamask resorts to picking little fried cheese balls and shoving them into his mouth while they're still piping hot. A Murkrow sits on Minato's head with its talons firmly dug into his skull and occasionally peering down to see if there are any Minato fingers she can snack on.

Like Nanami, he mostly sits back and watches everybody talk, but he'll chime in on other people's theories. This is a prompt for talking about all the optional side quests that doesn't involve getting off the island; Minato will help guide the conversation so you can link all your clues together.

Are you sure we can't fight the Gyarados...? I can cause Armageddon once, now... Probably take out everything in the lake. But the Gyarados too.

[Free barbecue? Free barbecue. Also yet another opportunity to shoot Minato a dead glare because 1) Murkrow, 2) Armageddon?? Rockruff is impatiently waiting for bones at Cliff's feet, chewing at the toe of his ugly shoes in the meantime.]

Yeah, just cause Armageddon, because that's a way to solve problems and totally won't create a million new ones. Shut up, dude.

[Here's a new(?) face. It's the guy who was originally in green day one and departed immediately, hair braided on the side just as it was back then. He holds himself differently from Gray, shoulders more square, voice firm instead of weak. His clothes are different, too. Not an outfit Gray would have been seen in, but something from the island for sure.]

It took me forever to save enough for new clothes... where did she get all that money?

[Hey, what's up, fellow dude that seems to just be here for the food. Cliff did some minimal looking into the issues around the island, but mostly he's been getting soaked and being angry about stuff. The only good part has been the couple of meat -- real meat, not fish -- dishes slowly running out of supply at this restaurant. Gotta savor it while he can.]

Minato said she's good at gambling, but nobody's that good. I'm calling bullshit.

[Tell him to attend something that isn't a mugging and he'll do it, but Sagi is relatively subdued today, wings tucked in and barely visible. Part of it is that, yes, he's not 100% sure this isn't another mugging. Another part is that the idea of eating with so many other relative strangers nearby reminds him of the army, and he would really rather it didn't.

A third part... well. He's in no position to actively set the topic here. It's just that the longer he sits awkwardly, the worse he is at keeping his thoughts to himself.]

So, if I heard it right - we're just going to clear a path and leave everyone on this island stuck inside the storm? [No prize for guessing from his tone of voice what he thinks of that.] Isn't that leaving the job half-done? I don't know whether the whole place could flood or not, but the people living here are gonna be in more trouble the longer it keeps up.

If the storm really is alive, and might even be what got the Gyarados stranded in the first place... It feels like missing the forest for the trees. There has to be something we can do. At least to meet it halfway.

[ Sooyoung is attending this meeting, but yet not at the same time. There's a guy in the restaurant with a black cap on his head to obscure his face a little, short black hair, black eyes, dressed pretty casually like an island native with a t-shirt and cargo pants. There's only some resemblance to Sooyoung, but this person is definitely a dude. Maybe a stranger. Either way, he seems to be eating normally, taking advantage of the fact that everything is free here. An Eevee seemingly scampers towards him with a note in its mouth and the person takes it out and reads it. He quietly passes it to Joonghyuk and Dokja, which reads "Nanami Chiaki is hospitalized." in Korean. Sooyoung's avatar sure is useful. He can act as a twin. Yeah. Totally not Sooyoung at all. Anyway, the avatar had been quiet, listening in on other people's conversations today combined with what Sooyoung listened in on during the meeting Rhel organized.

Once full, he starts jotting notes down on a notepad with pen and starts offering his findings. ]

It looks like the boba drink may be the cause for the townspeople being in a vegetable-like state. However, we see that it's not the case for everyone.

[ Since Minato has been drinking cups and cups full of it probably every day? He hasn't been counting. ]

The only ones who entered a vegetative state are the natives. However, people like Arisato who have probably been drinking these since day 1 aren't affected, who happens to be a foreigner. What sets apart the foreigners and natives are the strange markings somewhere on your body. Maybe it makes us immune to the boba's effects. Don't think about why, because that's not what this is about. If you have to, think on it on your own later.

[ aka don't ask irrelevant questions because he believes it'll get them really sidetracked from their goals of figuring out initial mysteries and they don't need that, seeing that they could be distracted just as easily. But he'll also encourage other people to think about it. ]

I have some others, but they're all loose theories.

[ The boba-marking theory was also pretty loose, but he hadn't seen it being brought up anywhere. I also don't want to mak this top level too long. Sooyoung's avatar is up for discussion as long as you start one civilly and seem to take it seriously. ]

- random items from home worlds sometimes appear. certain conditions met for it to happen is not obviously apparent.
- random items that seem to align with this world sometimes appear. certain conditions met for it to happen is not obviously apparent.
- abilities may come back. certain conditions met for it to happen is not obviously apparent.
- all pokemon seem attracted to combee's honey.
- stamp cards next to vegetable people has toran boba shop as final stamp. honey might be a special ingredient in the boba. probably a red herring, since it is on the secret specialty menu for a reason.
- though minato has been drinking them for so long, he hasn't turned into a zombie yet while natives have
- tide is rising more and more as day passes
- water level highest around NW side of the island. beaches in that area are relatively untouched.
- a girl met a drifloon on the beach and was buried in the sand
- drifloons have been infiltrating the hospital in gift baskets
- kids are missing from other places
- parents possibly told children not to go to the (nw) beach, because it's haunted. that's where drifloons usually drift(?)
- drifloons are common at the beach and hospital. kids weren't taken from hospital because there are people around. however, the beach is empty.
- mudkips seem to know whirlpool, which seems to be the key to leaving the island
- gyarados has two magikarp around it, one red, one gold. maybe babies.

- suggestions: using combee honey to lure the gyarados
- more serious suggestions?? idk.

[ Unlike everyone in the room currently arguing and/or discussing, Shinn's just standing there to the side, keeping tabs on everything. While he'd like to join the discussion, most of his solutions tend to be of being a rogue maverick and doing shit on his own, so there's probably no point to him joining in.

But at some point, he mutters softly to himself: ]

[ Noting that people are already discussing the possibility of either beating the shit out of Gyarados and Leaving to go back to this problem later, he decided to open up another thing. ]

Hey, anybody know on how wounded or battle-hardened the Gyarados is? If there's two smaller... whatever it is that evolves into that dragon guy, it must've been protecting them, right?

Has nobody thought of actually making sure that the Gyarados will have no reason to attack stragglers by keeping the small things safe?

Keep them safe how? It's already protecting its kids. [...assuming the smaller fish are its kids after all, but Sagi doesn't think too hard about making that leap, nor leaps in general.] That's most of the problem. I thought we'd just... bait its kids out along with it.

[Are they still doing the "fill another rowboat with berries, sail it out as a lure and try not to get this one smashed up too" thing? It sounded like a good plan to him.]

I think we have enough Mudkips to help us travel through the ocean now, so the ones who wanted to go can leave as soon as we are prepared. The ones who are staying, please raise your hand and let us know.
