[OPEN] 9/15 - Team Meeting

[ With an info-gathering session on the eighth, Nanami decides to wait a few more days until they're about two weeks into the month to gather everyone again. She realizes that all the team members haven't sat down properly to bond with each other in a single group setting. She knows the importance of making sure that you get every single unit to have at least an A-rank with someone (S-rank if they're super compatible) and keeping up team morale so, on the thirteenth, a familiar shiny Mimikyu comes running up to everyone with a written note pinned on his costume: ]

team meeting
plans to go to other islands
and other discussions
free food at Restaurant Le Nah
tomorrow at 6:00pm
- Nanami

[ Upon entering Le Nah the following day, a waiter will show the trainer to a large area in the back with multiple tables pushed together. There are already some appetizers ordered and spread across so feel free to help yourself. Nanami sits near the middle with her Mimikyu, feeding him by dropping little bits of food in front of him, and talking with her Mudkip, who just :V :V :V, as if she understands what he's saying. ]

( ooc: threadjacking is highly recommended in this log as it will be a group discussion! feel free to also create new top-levels that will only have a single type of discussion to keep things focused on the topic. )

[Rhel glances towards the windows.]

I don't know what any of that means, but if this Kyogre is responsible for this neverending storm, I don't know if this orb is really needed or if it's where you seem to think it is.

We can assume no one noticed until now. But assuming that is what happened, we know now and it shouldn't be too hard to find them and get them to stop. This island isn't very large, after all, so they've got to be around here somewhere.

Have you been to the northwestern beach, by any chance?

[Akechi mentioned that last week, and now Rhel has an Idea.]

Do you know why the locals might avoid that beach?

[ Also here, just casually listening in on this conversation nbd....... ]

Too rocky. Hurts your feet.

[ ...Maybe it's not the reason, but it's a reason. As Akechi mentioned in the other meeting, the sand is noticeably rougher, as if rock hasn't worn down into fine sand like it has on the other side of the island. ]

...Does the weather favour one side over the other?

[The texture of the sand may not be relevant. But maybe it is.]

[ Minato glances up at the ceiling as if he could see through it; he doesn't have to, because he can hear the heavy downpour. ]

The rain seems to always fall the same over the entire island... Doesn't move from one side to the other, but just sort of gets heavier or lighter.

[ Weather wouldn't make the sand unbalanced. If not water from the sky, then water from the...? ]

...So it's something to do with the waves.

[Suddenly Akira is wishing he paid more attention when they were talking about this in school.]

But is that a naturally occurring thing? Two beaches that are so close being worn down so differently?

[ Big shrug. ]

Dunno. But if the waves are different on one side versus another, that gives us a direction. What do you think?

[ Either running towards it or against; both are valid options. ]

... The southeast! Whatever's making the storm, if its power is stronger in one place, that must be where it's hiding. Right? [That's what he'd assume with regular old magic. Natural occurrence, his ass... Exactly as natural as he is.] If so, we'd just need a way to flush it out.

[And then do what to it? Uhh... one step at a time.]
infiltrationtools: (WHY ⛓i am the rising tide)

[personal profile] infiltrationtools 2020-09-17 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
The water level is rising the most on the northwest. So it must have been not hit by the waves as much in the past, meaning the rocks aren't as worn down. Also there's ghosts there.

[Wait a minute. Hold the fuck up.]

If the water level is rising unevenly, then either this island is literally sinking into the ocean, or something is pulling all the water in near the southeast. Right?

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-09-18 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Or both.

[ Could be both! Both is always a possibility, but Occam's Razor suggests the single-most simplest explanation instead. ]

If the water level is higher on the northwest, the storm is probably concentrated more on that side... I think. If we had to focus on one direction, that'd be my choice. Either way, we have to do something before the end of the month. Flooded or sunk won't make a difference by then.
