The nightmare is finally over and the aftermath sinks in. Wherever you are, news will eventually spread that the pokemon stopped their rampaging status, looking confused and some horrified by what had happened around them. Mari's Steelixes are finally off their guard duty, people are crying out of various emotions and people who are physically well enough flood out of the shelters in an attempt to search for their loved ones out there, whether they be people or pokemon. Some are reunited, some are not. Either way, people are in this together, comforting others over their losses and rebuilding the city. There's been quite a lot of destruction apart from the Pokemon Center and the hospital, after all. Some buildings are missing a roof, holes on the side wall, doors knocked down... some are unfortunate to have been entirely blasted away by an extremely strong rampaging pokemon's hyper beam (thanks, random Hydreigon).

After most people calm from their initial high emotions, the reconstruction starts. Of course, they also contact the people from Toran who helped with reconstruction efforts. Looks like the handymen will never rest...

The Pokemon Center is looking for additional manpower, getting pokeballs here to there, labeling whose pokemon are whose in things looking like incubators for those in queue of getting healed, and managing supplies. They are extremely short-staffed right now, so they will be looking for any help possible. Though, if you cause too much trouble than helping, you may be politely asked to leave or to help somewhere else. They don't have time for this. During the nights, the Pokemon Center may be crowded. After all, many people just lost their homes. They got nowhere to go.

The hospital is similar, in which they are also short-staffed. They're looking for disaster volunteers, and especially pokemon with healing capabilities to lessen the load on doctors and nurses who need to care for the more gravely wounded. With more help, the hospital will no longer seem as chaotic as before, but more along the lines of an orderly busy time. It helps that the people are no longer stuck inside due to the ongoings of the events outside, so the hospital is emptier than before, compared to when it was jam packed. The mental health department is also using Drowzees and Munnas to give people good dreams and eating nightmares without repercussions so that they can have a good night's rest. Not all wounds are physical, after all.

With the local Mart's help and other establishments, some people band together to supply people with food and drinks in a very open area in the park. Take a breather and eat something. If you look like you're running yourself ragged, one of the townspeople will drag you to eat and drink a proper meal. They don't need another patient in the hospital right now.

Remember that boba shop? Or those restaurants that you had the delicious meat from? Their damages vary from a broken window to being absolutely trashed. Pokemon and people alike are helping with moving the debris and cleaning up the mess. Someone piped up about recycling broken glass to make brand new windows with fire pokemon and proper glass making methods, so please don't throw them away!

The Radio Tower and the cemetery tower? They're both closed off to the public right now with yellow police caution tapes all around them. Your friendly policemen who all look the same advise nearby people to stay away from the two buildings at the moment. Please don't cause trouble or ask them questions... they're tired as it is like everyone else and they're not allowed to say anything for now, if ever. Your energy is better used elsewhere.

[ Ah. A fake smiler would probably be able to easily tell when he's doing the same thing.

There's no point in trying to lie to him right now. ]

[ he unwraps the sandwich he's been holding and tears it in two, giving the other half to fai. ]

[ He reluctantly takes the other half, almost telling Itaru that he needs it more. But... he knows that Itaru will force him to take it, so instead he says nothing and just looks down at it in his hand. ]

Ah... I probably should stop and relax, huh?

[ he laughs a little, taking a bite of the sandwich while he's at it. ]

Wish I'm just as hardworking as you, though. My being a lazyass is just ingrained in my DNA among other things, so the least I can do is drag guys like you away to smell the flowers every once in a while.

[ He finally takes a bite too. ]

Hmmm... your job is still important too.

[ After all, where would he be if he wasn't forced to take a break? ]

Besides, helping out helps take my mind off of things. I'm not doing it solely just to help others.

[ he takes another bite, mulling over his next words again. ]

Are you... still thinking about what happened back then?

[ Fai looks down at the sandwich in his hand, avoiding eye contact. He debates saying that he's fine and not thinking about all of that, but... Itaru did say he would know if Fai was lying. There's no point in not being honest. ]

...I am. It's easier to keep myself busy.

[ ah. well, where does itaru go from here now? he suddenly feels too awkward. ]

S-Sorry. I don't want to like, pressure you to loredump on me now. It's not like you trust me with that kind of information already when we just knew each other for a couple of months.

[ itaru gets that, and it'd be unfair to expect something like that from him. ]

But I just want you to know that, even if I'm not really as cool compared to the other guys in our group -- You're free to lean on me. It might not net us a lot of affection points with one another compared to other methods, but it's a start.

[ see what he means by not being as cool compared to the other guys with that last sentence tacked in ]

What are those other methods?

[ Sorry, he can't let that go. He smiles at Itaru teasingly, but realizes that he shouldn't be using teasing as a defense mechanism. ]

I appreciate your offer. [ Will he use it? Maybe. He feels like he's starting to be worn down enough to actually seek support from others. ] I said before you can ask me whatever questions you like and I would answer. That offer still stands. I owe it to you.

[ For getting him out of that situation, but he doesn't want to say that. ]

Ahaha. [ sweats nervously at the teasing. dammit, fai. ] Like, you know. Boba dates and stuff. But I'll think of other ways, I swear.

[ haha, yeah right. nanami dipped so now he can't show how cool he is in the videogame department. but he Will find a way later on. ]

Anyway, if that's really cool with you... Was that you as a kid in that alleyway?

[ Fai's gonna hold him to that and ask him about the other ways later.

He shakes his head. ]

No. That was my brother. I had a twin.

[ That use of past tense is probably really noticeable, so Fai waits for Itaru to react before he says anything else. ]

[ Oof. yeah, itaru did notice it. ]

...Oh.

[ a mysterious man chasing him, on top of a dead twin. how does fai find the strength to smile after that? ]

I was about to say sorry again, but you're probably tired of hearing it. You... sure have a lot going on, don't you?

[ They're all fake smiles. Maybe if you fake smile enough, one day you'll smile for real.

He shakes his head again. ]

No, it's alright. [ No one ever told him they were sorry about what happened before he got here, so he really doesn't mind. ] I suppose I do have a lot going on... but maybe that's just what happens when you live long enough.

[ It isn't. ]

Fai just laughs. Looks like he never told Itaru, but it doesn't come up that often, so. ]

Several times your age.

[ He assumes Itaru is around the age Fai looks. ]

It's common for wizards to age at a slower rate.

[ he's totally mystified. come to think of it, fai's eyes did change color, but itaru chalked that up as eye contacts. hien cosplays, after all, so it's not too odd.

but hold on, let itaru process this information a bit. and when he's done being starstruck: ]

What kinda magic can you do? I mean, I guess it makes sense that you're able to evade that weirdo guy for so long.

[ Fai laughs a little sheepishly. People don't usually react the way Itaru just did, since magic is common where he's from and in most worlds he's been to. ]

Ah... I mostly use offensive magic.

[ In other words, don't expect him to heal anyone. He can't do that. ]

I don't have most of it back just yet, though.

So you just need to level up, huh? I get it.

That's so cool, though. Being a wizard and all. I acted as one in a play back home, but meeting one IRL sure is something else. It's an honor.

It's not an honor, I promise.

[ Itaru, please. Meeting Fai should not be considered an honor for any reason, if he's being honest. ]

[ That earns him some cool points. ]

Mm, I belong to a theater company back home. I still have my day job as a salaryman, but acting has also become my passion as of late.

[ aside from viddy games. ]

Wanna see my cool wizard impression sometime? I totally nailed that role, you know.

Oh, you would show me? I feel so lucky!

[ He's obviously just teasing with that last bit, but he does want to see it. What are wizards like in his world? Sure, it would just be the version of one in a play, but he's curious. ]

I had no idea you were an actor. That explains why the girls are all over you here.

[ It's that actor energy. They can sense it, probably. ]

Actors are cool, right? They've been cool in most worlds I've been to.

[ Mostly in the ones with modern day technology, but he doesn't add that.

He picks up on the way Itaru trails off, though. They talked about love but Itaru definitely didn't trail off like that... ]
