[ With an info-gathering session on the eighth, Nanami decides to wait a few more days until they're about two weeks into the month to gather everyone again. She realizes that all the team members haven't sat down properly to bond with each other in a single group setting. She knows the importance of making sure that you get every single unit to have at least an A-rank with someone (S-rank if they're super compatible) and keeping up team morale so, on the thirteenth, a familiar shiny Mimikyu comes running up to everyone with a written note pinned on his costume: ]

[ Upon entering Le Nah the following day, a waiter will show the trainer to a large area in the back with multiple tables pushed together. There are already some appetizers ordered and spread across so feel free to help yourself. Nanami sits near the middle with her Mimikyu, feeding him by dropping little bits of food in front of him, and talking with her Mudkip, who just :V :V :V, as if she understands what he's saying. ]

[Tell him to attend something that isn't a mugging and he'll do it, but Sagi is relatively subdued today, wings tucked in and barely visible. Part of it is that, yes, he's not 100% sure this isn't another mugging. Another part is that the idea of eating with so many other relative strangers nearby reminds him of the army, and he would really rather it didn't.

A third part... well. He's in no position to actively set the topic here. It's just that the longer he sits awkwardly, the worse he is at keeping his thoughts to himself.]

So, if I heard it right - we're just going to clear a path and leave everyone on this island stuck inside the storm? [No prize for guessing from his tone of voice what he thinks of that.] Isn't that leaving the job half-done? I don't know whether the whole place could flood or not, but the people living here are gonna be in more trouble the longer it keeps up.

If the storm really is alive, and might even be what got the Gyarados stranded in the first place... It feels like missing the forest for the trees. There has to be something we can do. At least to meet it halfway.

I've got to agree. If that rain doesn't let up, things are going go from bad to catastrophic, and quickly.

It already isn't going so well, after all. I've asked others, but I'm asking again: does anyone know of any legends or whatnot of rain or water gods?

In mythology, Kyogre is the Pokemon that created the sea and has the power to create massive rain clouds. He could be related, but we don't have any evidence that it's him.

[ There are other Pokemon that can cause rain, after all. There is also another part that she wants to address. ]

Also, we're not leaving Toran and never coming back to help, but sometimes, you have to gain some extra levels and get stronger before you can come back to an area to fix things.

[He's more hesitant about butting in after she says that, but in the end he likes entertaining the idea of ditching this place until a more convenient time even less.]

I think... I think it's the one they call Lugia. A god of storms - what they mean by "god" here, I couldn't say. But the storm is what started the rain, and the storm is what really didn't want us just sailing out of here.

The games say that if Lugia flaps its wings, it can cause a 40-day storm, but it normally sleeps underwater and in caves. There are a lot of other Pokemon that can also cause it to rain too.

[Always easy to read, Sagi begins to look frustrated.]

Does it even matter which one is out there? For all we know, half their stories might be wrong. But something attacked us that day, which means there's something we can go looking for.

When you mean attacked, do you mean the dream?

[ Unlike Sagi, Nanami remains calm. Perks of being an AI. She is chill all the time. ]

No, the storm itself. If you try to take a boat through it, it - gets angry. It wants you to stop.

I know that's not exactly evidence... I can't prove that's what happened. But it is what it felt like.

You can't. You need the Blue Orb from Mt Pyre to summon it, but that's in another different region. This region is new, so I don't know how far away Hoenn is.

[ Well, it's "new" in the sense that it never appeared in any of the games that she played and she played all of them. ]

I don't know what any of that means, but if this Kyogre is responsible for this neverending storm, I don't know if this orb is really needed or if it's where you seem to think it is.

Mm, maybe not... but you do need the orb to summon it. That means someone stole the orb, went into the Embedded Tower, fought and somehow captured Kyogre, was strong enough to control it, then come here to cause the storm. That's without anyone trying to stop them.

[ In the games, there were the protagonists and some NPCs. In real life, she imagines that there are similar people who would try to stop that person. It's hard to believe that everyone would just stand by and let this happen. ]

We can assume no one noticed until now. But assuming that is what happened, we know now and it shouldn't be too hard to find them and get them to stop. This island isn't very large, after all, so they've got to be around here somewhere.

In times like these... splitting up is a good idea. We can investigate as many leads as possible and regroup later to see how far we get.

[ Nanami isn't putting her entire bets on the theory with Kyogre, but if someone wants to look into it, she will certainly help. She will do her part as a helpful NPC. ]

[He doesn't want to escape the storm and leave the town to deal with it either.]

[He glances back over at Chiaki.] I thought that was what she said... Isn't it? Use this one type of Pokemon's power to push through the currents out there, then get out of here.

[Legit question, did he mishear? He's a little on edge, so he wouldn't be surprised.]

[Well, that's one way to interpret it which Atsushi didn't consider. He'd thought that the calming of the lake wouldn't be temporary, because they'd then deal with the Gyarados and it would be over. No... she said go around.]

My Mudkip's not helping in that scenario.

[That's so far away from the point, and Atsushi is a little incredulous it's what Nanami thinks of first.]

That's not the reason at all. It's not right to escape and let everyone else deal with this, like Sagi said.

[ Her bad. She's just used to everyone worrying about the Gyarados and it kicking the ass of every Pokemon that comes nearby. ]

It's not, but I never said that we're not coming back. Sometimes, you need to move forward a bit in order to come back and help everyone properly.

I still don't like it. It's too much like abandoning these people, who've been providing for us since we got here.

[He doesn't have a frame of reference to separate the townspeople and designate them equivalent to NPCs.]

...Yeah, I agree with him. I don't think you're wrong either, but if there's a problem right in front of us, we owe it to these people to at least try.
